Anyone mention this? One of the first albums I bought. Glad I didn't take it literally as a young teen, else I would have ventured down the path of British sports cars. (Flashback! First clutch job on a Spitfire. Ugh.)

I'd LOVE to know what you'll get next!
why?

why can't I be un-passionately content with my vehicle? I'm not gonna love the next one either, so why not just stick with the 993 until i find the right gallardo?

Yeah, you state that TODAY. Who knows what you'll recant down the road.

Ed was probably referring to this priceless, archived gem, Mr. Short Term Memory. Yes, yes, I know; you loved the marque back then but don't love any engines right now. Riiiiight...where's my jack off smiley? Who knows how you'll backtrack next month.

For God's sake, if you're going to be an attention whoring troll, at least be consistent in whatever it is you believe in.

Hi everyone,
I've been strongly considering selling my supercharged 1999 650rwhp mustang cobra vert, in order to purchase a 95-98 carerra. If I ask questions that have been previously covered, I apologize.

Basic background on me: 23, have a good career in financial services, live in northern NJ, and have always loved the air cooled flat six.

So, on with the questions:

1. What kind of price range is reasonable for a 95-98 C2 with between 30k and 70k miles? How about a C4?

2. Things to look out for. I understand the engines burn quite a bit of oil by design, but are there any trouble spots to look out for?

3. Are the drivelines fairly sturdy? What type of clutch issues might I face at the aforementioned mileage?

4. Recommended PPI shops in northern NJ?

5. Is the 4wd system of the C4 well proven? From what I remember it was one of the first p-cars with awd.

6. Overall, how has your ownership experience been? Would you do it again?

I greatly appreciate all your help, and sorry for the newb questions.

Oh, and finally, anybody have a black one with a tan interior and a 6 speed they want to sell?

thanks,

Oliver

That was indeed my reference. Notice he doesn't quickly say "I love the air-cooled...", he say "I've ALWAYS loved the air-cooled...."

yawn. Don't love the engine or the car. call it flip flopping if you want.

once again, mystique far greater than the car.

This WAS a fairly engaging discussion until some decided to make personal attacks. And this is a group that shares common interests and a shared respect for each other.

Although I don't always agree with Quad, I also recognize that he's in his late 20s and is still a work in progress (as we all are). I, too, thought I knew all of life's answers as a young man.

Quad, I don't agree with you on this subject matter; it's clear you're pretty passionate about cars, whether you realize it or not.

I also think you have a pretty thick skin, seeing that this thread has become less of a discussion and more of a pecking party.

When you trade in all your enthusiast cars for a Toyota Camry, I'll grant that you're not passionate about great cars. Until then, you may hafta admit that you're a huge car nut with lots of passion for automobiles

I'm trading all my cars for, literally, my mom's Camry to go to Miami, no less. At least for a couple of month this winter. Oy, vey.

Well said goofball. As much as I sometimes want to come back to this thread and argue a POV, you just made me realize that when I was in my late 20's I was WAY MORE of a work in progress than I would like to admit. Thanks for clearing the fog from the high road. I feel better...

Now, I have to go look at my 993 and drool!
