993 vs Ferrari 458
I was at the Saratoga Springs (NY) Fall Italian Ferrari Wine and Food Festival this weekend. A great event in a beautiful setting.
The hotel let me park my 993 in a safe area of the hotel roundabout - behind me was a Ferrari 458 ($365,000), a Ferrari 360 and a 997 Targa 4S.
Saturday afternoon I was under the canopy at the entrance reading and taking a break. Two guys were from a medical convention were looking at the cars - they walked past the 997 and two Ferrari's and stopped at my 993. They looked at it for five minutes, took photos.... they obviously loved the lines of the car. When they walked past me I said hello and commented how much better the looking the 993 was than the Ferrari 458 (they didn't know the C2 was mine). They said, "Yeah, it is a lot better looking car."
Thought you guys might get a kick out of this story.... everyone who sees it loves that damn car !!

Race Car
I was taking pics of my car today and a guy on a motorcycle traveling across the country stopped for a break. He didn't know much about Porsches, but he did say that he liked our (993's) versions the best.

Hmmm...now there's no doubt I love the 993...and it does indeed look better than 99% of the cars out there...but...not so sure I can sign on to "better looking than the Ferrari 458"...or the 360 for that matter. IMHO...those are possibly the two best looking cars ever made...especially the 360.

A very good friend of mine in Newport Beach has a 458 (amongst at least a dozen other desireables) that I have had the pleasure of driving a few times.
As much as I love everything about the 993, the 458 represents a quantum leap in just about every performance and dynamic aspect.
While I exit the 993 after a good drive with a smile on my face & loving eyes, I exited the 458 feeling as though I'd done a few lines of the white stuff with a spoon full of speed sprinkled over the the top. Truly scintillating.

You guys have nailed it for the most part in your responses....the key is that the 993 is the epitome of proportionality and that's why it looks so good from every angle

Not sure I can think of any area where the 993 beats the 458. Looks, performance - no. Maybe maintenance costs and number of passengers.
