Here are a few pics of 458s in race trim that I took at the Canadian GP earlier this year. They are beautiful cars!

Not too shabby looking!

After reading some of the responses to my original post, I remember why I seldom post here and then usually just on mechanical issues....

The interaction with the guys looking at my car was funny. They weren't blind, or idiots. They really appreciated the classic lines of the 993. I didn't say the 993 was a better car or a better performer. I thought their interest was a good comment on a car that Porsche built fifteen years ago that did almost everything right - and that comes off pretty damn well years later versus a car worth almost ten times as much.

Mike, don't pay attention to Jim. He's the resident 993 detractor and, as is usually the case, a closet 993 lover.

I like the 458 exterior, but the interior....well let's just say it reminds me a bit of an 80's Fiero.

Ilko,

Funny.... thanks for the the pics, by the way. The 458 in black is quite a look. Were those cars privately owned track cars?

Yep, privateers. Check out the Ferrari Challenge series. The noise they make is unbelievable and those sequential gearboxes are sweeeeeet!

Where Upstate are you? I have a place in Hunter (Greene County), that's where I keep the car.

Thanks. The sound is really fantastic - and they are V8's, right?

I am in Auburn. I usually store the 993 in my hangar about 35 miles south of me towards Ithaca. If you need a place for winter storage let me know. Heated and dry and VERY secure (airport). Lots of space for your ride. My work email is m.capocefalo@aainy.com.

Yep, V8s. Thanks for the offer, luckily I have a garage at my house

BTW there will be a Porsche exhibit at the Saratoga Auto Museum starting in October. I definitely want to check it out!

I would go to the Porsche Festival - I would have preferred it to the Ferrari one. But will be out in Colorado on a cycling trip and just getting back that Saturday.

Have fun and post pictures.

Yeah, I'll be in Cali during the opening weekend. But the exhibit runs through Jan 2012 so I'll definitely be going up there at some point in October. Fall foliage and all

Mike,
I think the clincher, besides the great body lines (curves) of a 993 is the Arena Red color.
But then I am biased to Arena Red!!!!!
Great story

Still, the exteriors are pure sex.
