There is information out there that indicates using Techron can contaminate the oil and that it should be changed soon after running Techron through the car. It's not clear to me how that happens presuming good seals and tight cylinders, etc.
The questions:
1. Is this true--and if so how does that happen?
2. How long can or should the car go before the required change? Should the oil be changed immediately after Techron treatment?
Thanks.

I'll do the same with the Turbo in October.

Gotcha, thanks for the heads up. I will keep that in mind from here on out.

I've used Chevron Techron twice a year in my Honda. Twelve years and 130,000 miles later, the engine still runs as it did in the first year...like new.

Let me ask this question another way. Does someone who fuels at Chevron stations need to change their oil more often than others since they are adding Techron at each fill-up?

I had this same question as Chevron gas is mostly unavailable in North Carolina and would like to use Techron but sided with the "right before the oil change" crowd. My best uneducated guess would be, lower concentrations in the gas formula acting more like a build up preventative as opposed to a deposit cleaner. It seems we could approximate the pump formula and use appropriately. My best gas available quest has led me to a local Exxon that is ethanol free.
