Default Techron and oil contamition

There is information out there that indicates using Techron can contaminate the oil and that it should be changed soon after running Techron through the car. It's not clear to me how that happens presuming good seals and tight cylinders, etc.

The questions:
1. Is this true--and if so how does that happen?
2. How long can or should the car go before the required change? Should the oil be changed immediately after Techron treatment?

Thanks.

Sorry folks., I asked the question and then did the search.

I think I found what I needed out there already--disregard this post.

I run Techron prior to my oil changes, prior to winter hibernation. I also do used oil analysis. My UOA's are excellent.

It doesn't. It's just the conservative (safe) approach. Given the choice when to do it, just do it prior to your oil change. I'm getting my Boxster's oil changed on the 23rd this month. I added the Techron about 2 weekends ago. Drove the tank near empty last week, filled up with fresh gas. Maybe another 200 miles this week. Then an oil change next week.

I'll do the same with the Turbo in October.

I might believe that if the information was put out by a few car manufacturers along with substantiating data.

I've used Chevron Techron twice a year in my Honda. Twelve years and 130,000 miles later, the engine still runs as it did in the first year...like new.

Doesn't hurt that it's a Honda, either...

Let me ask this question another way. Does someone who fuels at Chevron stations need to change their oil more often than others since they are adding Techron at each fill-up?

No. The comments above are related to high dose use. The amount of Techron in the pump blends is low.

Vince

I had this same question as Chevron gas is mostly unavailable in North Carolina and would like to use Techron but sided with the "right before the oil change" crowd. My best uneducated guess would be, lower concentrations in the gas formula acting more like a build up preventative as opposed to a deposit cleaner. It seems we could approximate the pump formula and use appropriately. My best gas available quest has led me to a local Exxon that is ethanol free.

I'd say no. As long as you're using a quility oil and a resonable time/mileage interval for your driving conditions & style. What is your current regiment?
