Nice trip! The wife and I did 5 states and 2500 miles in 10 days, right after we bought our 993. It was a blast.

SF Bay Area to Montreal and back in 2008 with my wife - over 6,000 miles in 2 weeks.

Driving my 993 through places like Cheyenne, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Philadelphia, Louisville, Memphis and Santa Fe was amazing.

I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Given the choice, I'm on two wheels when going on vacation trips.

I hate getting stuck behind cars in the twisties.

When I ride over there we pass MCs We also let them by if they are going faster. I wish people in the US knew how to use the right blinker as an "okay to pass" signal.

Stelvio SUCKS in the middle of the day on Saturday!!

Probably those from the US that are on an "organized motorcycle tour"...the Alps aren't Iowa. In 17 years, I can't remember a car passing me in any of the Alpine passes, but I've passed plenty of them.

Having watched Porsche club drives in the Alps on YouTube, I could think of nothing more frustrating that driving a car on roads where it is impossible to pass because of the width of the road; on a motorcycle, there is just enough room to get by. Thats on passes that are ultra narrow like the south ramp of Gavia and others like it.

I wish drivers on this continents would know how to drive, period.

I ran into a 993er from the UK on the San Bernardino pass this past June.

Nope, Italian bikers

We did more narrow poasses this year than ever. Check out Vivioni. It was like this for miles!

Agreed on most drivers here.

Cool, we saw a couple out in the mountains, but no 993s. Saw a very fast and quite insane 964 in Switzerland.

Do you mean Passo del Vivione which is just a few kilometers south of Edolo? I was there June 14th.

If so, then these should look familiar...

I was lucky; no cars blocking this pass road when I drove it.

Did he have a CH sticker on the back of the car?

That's it. Luckily no cars blocking it for us, either. I was there July 1.

I don't recall - had Swiss plates. It was a black coupe - no wing or anything.

My favorite pass this year was Passo de Crocedomini. People thought we were nuts for taking these cars over it Not a lot of traffic here:

That figures.

Everytime I come across a car with Swiss plates, the driver always tries to prove to me how fast they are. Like when is the last time they had an F1 champion.

We went over it the same day as Passo del Vivione. It was raining unfortunately but I'm in the area every year as I spend a lot of time near Rovereto. I hope you got to drive the SS46.

If the road you took is mostly gravel, then you tee'd off the top and went over passo Maniva to the town of Anfo.

This was back in 2000...

And in 2001 heading up to Passo di Croce Domini through the town of Bagolino...
