Look at the top grill on the wing, the grill is a Techart part as is the whole wing. It is narrow body aero kit II.

Aero kit I looks just the same but it uses a standard 993 grill and is slightly smaller with 3rd brake light.

Aerokit 1

Aerokit II

Wide body aero kit II

The NB aero kits where called 1, 1B, II, all based on configuarations of splitters, rockers and wing. They where so rare I never fully understood it.
I do remember 2 wings that where nearly the same. As seen in the top 2 photos..

The second photo of X50's car is factory original and his CoA reads "aero II". This is what Dpowells car looked like from the factory.

I can say for sure that the "S" wing and turbo front bumper cover on Dpowells car is not what the CoA means by aero kit II.
I understand what led him to think that, but the aero kit II was removed and replaced with an "S" look.

Here is another example of narrow body aero kit II that was factory installed on a 96 at Holt.
http://www.holtmotorsports.com/inventory.php?vin=323505
It has the standard grill like aero I, but the main change was in the delete of the 3rd brake light.

Photo of a Dealer only accessory catalog dated from 1995, you can see the areo kits listed, still as PET!!

Areo kit turbo 000 044 800 15

Please can this be the end of discussion?

Your 1st photo (on the picnic rug) looks aftermarket, that isnt an areo kit wing. The grille is wrong as is the light, painfully wrong and aftermarket! The photos in my catalog show the split grille insert as per your photo 2, or the one in post #11

The 2nd photo is the areo kit 1 rear wing

The 3rd is the Areokit kit turbo II rear wing

CalvinC4S

Now we have photos to compare, it now becomes clear - confusion over [for me].

The Holt car is exactly the same as mine, just a different colour.

Calvin, thanks so much for you patience and help.

Many thanks to dpowell and 911PERVY and all who contributed to this discussion - it is much appreciated.

Happy motoring.

Thanks for the clarifications. The clouds were beginning to part a little for me when I received pages of the Tequipment brochure from Neil. The Aerokit information was identical to the info in 911Pervy's post and the only Aerokit II listed was the Aerokit Turbo II.

I just wanted clarify to CalvinC4S's that in his post #104, the first picture is of x50type's car while the subsequent pictures are of dpowell's car - NOT x50type's car as it is now after an accident repair or aero mod.
Edit: Sorry I miss-read Calvin's post and thought he was addressing x50type instead he was talking to dpowell.

The only confusion for me now is the description of the Aerokit Turbo - "Comprises the standard Turbo front spoiler section and rear spoiler". I always thought of the spoiler as the bottom section not including the actual Turbo bumper cover. Am I reading the description too literally since I believe the Turbo S spoiler won't fit on a NB front bumper cover? And it wasn't a factory installed option?

The PET page shows it better, you get the bumper, the PU, the front nose cone, call it what you will. You dont get the Turbo S bottom spoiler lip. You are reading it too literally Im afraid, German to English translation!

Thanks guys for the research and patience on this topic. I'm very appreciative and glad to be a part of this fantastic forum!

It does appear that I originally had an Aerokit 1 kit (without 3rd light), however my CoA mentions aerokit 2 with rockers. Both 1 and 1B kits did not include rockers.

X50 - does your CoA mention rockers too? If so, we have an answer!!

Dp, his CoA will read aero kit II just like yours if he has a 96- coupe.

I think what we are learning as is that PORSCHE called the no 3rd brake light
techart spoiler on the 96- coupes aero kit II on the CoA and on the order form

The parts litature is calling it aero kit I with out brake light. It must have been changed or
lost in translation.

X50's car and the Holt car are perfect examples of this.

aero kit II when used on a NB car is not the aero package used on the 4S,S and turbo S.

We can buy turbo bumper covers from the dealer in kit's, though it was never a build option
from the factory. Makes sense on a marketing level to me.

dpowell

my CoA states :- Aero Kit II Spoilers/Rockers. The hood label states :- x58, x61, x62, x71, etc.

I believe you asked me this in the your email to me, however i found that if one reads the email, doesn't reply immediately and returns to reply - the link has gone.

The birth date of my 993 is 06/22/1995, MSRP $77,201 and it was bought from Dan McGill Porsche-Audi in Houston, TX. It is fitted with RS camshafts, Billy Boat s/s exhaust headers. Andial sports clutch and Euro RS flywheel also a Rennsport Systems [Steve Weiner] engine management chip made for this engine configuration.

You can find a list of the 993 options codes at http://www.993registry.org/optioncodes.htm
However there are some gaps in the code numbers - reason unknown.
If you search Google you will find more info. Rennlist may have code lists too.

Thanks again for your info, input and opinions.

Happy motoring.

Calvin, you have contradicted yourself yet again:

"The factory did indeed install aero kits."

"We can buy turbo bumper covers from the dealer in kit's, though it was never a build option
from the factory. Makes sense on a marketing level to me."

Give it up if not 100%................

Please read this once or three times if you have to.

Aero kit is a spoiler/wing kit not a front bumper cover.

aero kit 1 installed at factory
aero kit II or Ib installed at factory
turbo aero kit installed at factory on turbos
turbo aero kit II installed at factory on 4S/S/TTS

The turbo bumper cover kit you have on pet is a KIT and just that!
