Hi all, just recently joined the 993 owning crowd in HK and have a '96 Silver/Grey C2 Tip.

At the moment my current project is to swap out the rubbish Sony stereo which the previous owner decided to hard-wire to the factory Nokia Hi Fi speakers - sounded absolutely terrible.

If anyone has a recommendation for a good installer here in HK I would be interested? I already have the replacement head unit and speakers, not so much luck with tracking down a suitable amp though.

Ross.

I've seen your car a few times...very nice. Is it auto or manual shift? Ever since I sold my 993 cab I've been looking for a wide-body 964 cab with a manual transmission

I don't have any suggestions for installers but when you find one, please post...a new stereo is on my to-do list. Fairly far down, but its on the list!

On the installer, I've taken mine in the past to these chaps on Jaffe Road in wanchai. They were recommended by Road and Track. I will try to dig up the exact name and address and let you guys know.

Seems like the weather forecast is not so great tomorrow, but you never know.

BTW, anyone has experience on servicing your car at Jebson ?

Thanks for the arranging last night. We turned out have a handful of air-cooled Porsche (1 C2S, 1 C2 Cab, 2 C2 & a 964 C4) + a mix of other sport cars. The route was a bit short & narrow but it was great fun (especially when over-taking). Hope to see more of rennlisters joining next time.

I ended up doing the job myself in the end as I just didn't have confidence that any of the street side installers in Mongkok would do it right. I did however stumble across the most amazing shop in Shenzhen should you be interested in a trip over - Special City at 2 Huang Qiang Sth Rd, Nahua Garden, Futian District. They had numerous install bays and an airconditioned cafe area with massage chairs while you wait for your install - if only I could have driven the 993 there I would have in a flash. They are the importer for Audison amps into China and had a complete range of pretty much every piece of high end car audio you might ever need.

In the end I went with a Pioneer DEX-P99RS head unit, Audison LRx 2.4 amp and Focal 165 KR2 speakers. It sounds pretty good (a big improvement over the previous poorly installed Sony), but is of course missing some bass. Unfortunately, with 2 small kids to transport about I don't want to take up any extra room with a sub so this will do me fine for now and looks much more in keeping with the original 90's interior look.

Thanks Alan. I should have checked with RaT as I'm sure they would know someone. In the end I actually enjoyed doing it myself, so all worked out well.

It was so much fun yesterday and so happy to see a stunning 964 and C2S. Should do it more and more in future.

Not a Turbo, a widebody Carrera. I have seen the car at Gembella a few times. No idea where to order the seat belts.

Hi

Wow, nasty accident. I hope the driver is OK.

I am a 993 owner living in Hong Kong, but sadly my 993 is in the UK. Currently with the engine in bits. I am going to put it back together (I hope) when I return for 10 days at the end of October.

I would love to meet up with some 993 owners here. I do pretty much everything on my car and so know the 993's reasonably well.

All the best

Berni
