It's the black 993 with Techart wheels. And yours?

I really didn't want to sell it and for the longest time I had both cars, but with 2 kidlets, it just wasn't being driven enough and I thought she deserved to be driven more

Hey guys,

What are the contact details for Road & Track? I've been hearing many of you mention this garage; seems to be well regarded, like Jebsens or Gembella.

I was planning to install the RS engine mount, but could not find an experienced garage to do it. Given Hong Kong's roads are totally different than US, should I change it ? If so, any garage to recommend ?

Engine mounts are a DIY 30 minute job Deriffic.
Just need a socket set and a torque wrench, and jack up the engine a little.
I would do it - I rate it very high in the "night and day" difference" upgrade.
Relatively inexpensive, easy to DIY, and huge noticeable different in handling feel.

I have had RS engine mounts on my 964 for many years and have had no problem whatsoever. The mounts were installed by Gembella and it was a simple procedure.

Just called Gembella up today: Parts (HK$3,880) + Labour (HK$800) = HK$4,680. Will do so next week.

RS mounts are good and I am fairly satisfied, but frankly if I were to do it again, since the extra noise does not really bother me I would go with Wevo motor mounts combined with RS tranny mounts. Besides the added harshness, the only negative with the Wevos is that you should probably strengthen the engine carrier (unless it's a turbo).

Ok, sorry newbie question.

What do the RS engine mounts do?

Driving around HK this weekend, saw a beautiful baby blue Targa (number plate KHxxxx) on Tai Hang road and a gorgeous silver turbo on Stubbs road yesterday! Anyone here?

Stiffer engine mounts like the RS or Wevos tighten up engine interface with the chasis and remove some of the slop. It's especially noticeable when you do a quick left then right transition or vice versa...you can feel that the engine pendulums out one way and then the other...it makes the car feel like there is something loose back there and gives a vague steering feel. If you have fixed back seats (like GT3 seats, recaros, etc) or seats that don't let you slide around as much (ie recaro Sportster CS), you can easily tell the difference. If you are using standard seats you can't feel the difference as much as you won't be as tightly connected to the car, but it will still improve the overall handling of the car.
