According to the Mobil specs I have the 5W50 is a little low on wear additives. The 15W50 is higher in Zn and P. Oddly enough the 5W50 and 0W40 have the same Zn and P however I don't recall the 5W50 being recommended by Porsche.

I can't find 15w50 in any of the Walmart Stores in my area. Have they stopped carrying them?

Here we go again...... To the OP, have you searched the forum here re: oil viscosity and brand? I wouldn't use what you're looking for in a 993 engine......

Mike-
Yes, here we go again! Sorry to bore you with the "same old stuff". I did not know the redundancy police were watching.
Yes, I did an extensive search before posting. It is a habit I have used for close to 40 years in my profession. You are the first to call me on the "search and then question" approach. Thank you for your valuable lesson.
I have spoken with many Porsche factory trained mechanics, including those in Stuttgart and Zuffenhausen and it seems that they use 5W/50 on cars they attend to; so I use it.
My 993 will be 17 yo in June (built in 1994). In that time, I have had to add a total of six quarts between oil changes. It does not smoke on start up or heavy acceleration. Its belly is bone dry. It hauls and accelerates exceedingly well.
But I must be using the wrong oil. Thank you for your advice.
