Default Beautiful 993 Turbo for sale

Hey everyone!

So, right off the bat, I admit that I'm new to this forum.

However, I created this account because I'm helping a less-tech-savvy friend sell his 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo. It's absolutely beautiful, and here are some quick tidbits in case anybody knows a potential buyer:

- Located in Northern California
- Asking price is $81,000 (flexible, and open to shipping within the US!)
- Original owner, who picked it up in person in Stuttgart in 1997
- Vehicle has been kept in absolutely mint condition (check out the pictures)
- Both the car and the owner have been featured in a Porsche magazine (owner is an avid collector of Porsches - currently owns a 2010 911 Turbo and a 911 GT2, and is a previous owner of a Carrera GT).

Enough talk, here are some pictures of it. I have plenty more - please feel free to send me a PM with any questions/ requests for more info. For the lookers, simply enjoy!

Andrew,

A few tips to help you out:

1 - You need to be a member to sell anything here.
2 - You should list all of the after market stuff/ non original (there seems to be a few ahem... Items)
3 - Get rid of that front number plate and black sticker - it screams previous damage.
4 - List the options, this car has plenty of ahem - themes going on.
5 - The RSD and the Hardbacks (as well as the carbon) are desirable if you like purple (i mean Rubicon Grey) interiors these re the things you should list.
6 - Price might be a little highish....

Simon.

I would suggest if your friend is tech-savvy enough to read the workshop manuals, he'd probably be tech-savvy enough to start his own account and sell his own car. You may be the most well-intended and honest person around, but "helping a friend sell a car" can also be code for a scam. Most people who are thinking of spending 80 large want to talk to the owner, not his pal.

Also, tell your "friend" that he needs to get more tech-savvy, if only so he can compare prices on the internet and see his car is overpriced at $80K.

Hey Simon -

Thank you, those are all excellent tips. Here is a brief list of info on the non-original aspects of the car (that I'm aware of). I'll have the owner remove the tape if possible for the sake of pictures, although I'm confident that there are no issues regarding damage, etc. And, I'll submit my membership payment, just in case anyone is interested. Thanks!

Awesome car.

ditch the front spacers, they make the offsets look odd imo.

Unless I missed it (?)-mileage should be way up front on the list, almost mentioned in the same line as the price-I went to find the ODO reading first thing. I would also look to have all pictures done with same lighting conditions that best show off the colors. The photos are so different it's almost like there are a two cars for sale. Otherwise, looks like a nice car that's a bit over priced.

Nice 993 Turbo. Great interior. Why the stop-watch in the center console? 0-60 times?

Please tell us there's not 4 screw holes in her front bumper cover!

There is really no reason to "roll the fenders" with those tire sizes on the Turbo, unless crazy spacers were being used.

it's refreshing to see a silver car with a non-black interior. i don't really dig the CF, but the deviated colors look sweet to my eye.

mention that the car has a Rear Seat Delete, some people here go ga-ga over them.

your well-intentioned post (IMO) will likely connect with someone who will be a happy buyer, but probably not at $81k!

rolled fenders! tsk tsk.

Craig

yes, i might have too much time on my hands also..........................

Looks like a nice car, but man, I just can't get around how obvious the fender rolling is. That really stands out on a light-colored car. Why put monster spacers on stock wheels and roll the fenders that aggressively (especially the front)?

Besides the obvious flags, pricing, etc... that door interior with 5 different colors and 4 different patterns looks like the standard victim of GM's "design by committee".

Sometimes, especially for the real purists, the lack of the rear "turbo" badge is a red flag. Personally, I like the clean look, and have considered removing mine.

I'm usually impressed with the hospitality shown by the community here, but I think you guys are being pretty hard on the new guy for virtually no reason. For a first time poster, he avoided many of the faux pas that new guys often commit. Sure, his post wasn't perfect (mileage would be nice), but it was respectful and reasonably informative. I think there has been some unnecessary hostility shown here, and some disparaging comments about the car that surprise me. Typically, I see posters on here repeating the mantra "if you ain't got nothing nice to say about a guy's FS ad, don't say nothing at all," but you guys are attacking everything from the color combo to the options to the pricing. I'm not begrudging guys for making a comment like "GLWS, I think you may find your asking price to be a little high," I think that's a perfectly acceptable comment to make. But when guys are chiming in to knock the color combo or rolled fenders, it adds nothing to the conversation and arguably affects this guy's ability to sell the car. The OP was nice enough to disclose these things (colors and details of things like rolled fenders), and my opinion is that if other users don't like these features of the car, they should keep it to themselves.
