You can't. The leather is part of the shifter, & goes up the back of the shift ****.

Just came back from dropping a few things in post office. Forgot to mention, these aluminum pieces also get friggin' cold too. Minor unnecessary torture.

it doesnt appear to be removable. i thought of doing that, but it would require cutting open the old one to see if i could re-use it

The other option is some teflon or other tape on the metal shifter itself.

But I thought that grommet was removable. It's been a while since I've played with stock shifters (insert joke here).

I'd love to replace my shift ****. I too however refuse to spend crazy money on a shift ****. $150 + for a leather boot and **** is insane, much less the ones for $250+ Could probably get a custom made one off for around that price.

I've been thinking for a while about a combination of a Polish company called Red Line (leather goods and such, I have their cover in my autocross appliance) and a round **** by Knobmeister: http://www.knobmeister.com/page14.ph...age&category=1 (also have a Voodoo round **** in the aforementioned appliance and _love it to death_ compared to round $400+ Porsche ****).

The combo would cost $100 or less. The issue is making a **** that fits the flat shifter rod. Need to talk to knobmeister to see if he's willing to do something like that. I've emailed him, he's out till May 20s. When he's back, let's see what he says. I do have an old shift boot as well that can be used for templating.

Curious how much interest there would be in this combo.

Hi
The 2 shifter you have in the photo are the Porsche Tequipment shifters.
They come as a complete unit.

I change the standard shifter on my 993 Carrera 2 some time ago and purchased the Tequipment shifter from LA Dismantlers for $200.00.
Yes the shifter was secondhand, but in very good condition.
and yes it looks better and feels better.

Thanks,

The shaft on C2 & C4 is the same size, as I mentioned before, the C4 has a 944 ****, there is a rubber bung in the bottom and a D clip to hold it on, if you dont have these I would squirt some silicon down the end and just push it on, that will hold it.

Chuck - that looks great with the cashmere interior. I am planning on doing the same and replacing my e-brake at the same time with the Tequipment - Aluminum/Black.
