Are there shifters that raises the height of it? I feel that I need to "reach" for the shifter when its in say 3rd/5th gear. I know a lot of people just switch the entire assembly but I have a C4, which FD doesnt carry.

Thanks John. My car also has black "deviating" carpeting. Originally I wanted an all black interior but now I'm really happy with what I have. Here's a gratuitous photo. Sorry for the interuption.

No interruption at all - thanks for the photo. My Lloyd mats are black with red Porsche lettering... the black/cashmere combination looks great.

Default Shifter solution

For those looking to change their C2 shifter w/black insert to the C4/Turbo brushed silver insert look, I found brushed inserts for $39 on the following Rennbush epage. I haven't tried one on a 993, but I did a similar switch on a previous 986 and it looked great and saved me hundreds and took all of about 1 minute. Should find at:

My shifter that I believe to be the C4/Turbo version is more than a different insert. It is heavier and larger. It actually changes the shift feel.

Can I take the metal inner of a 4wd version and swap it into the 2wd version. I just bought the Tequipment version which only comes with the rubber compression fit. My old stock shift **** was weighted and 'felt' nicer as far a driving goes.

Of course if you wait, next year they will be around 800 bucks.
Still $569 two years later. Must be one of the few Porsche parts that don't increase in price by 10-20% every year.

I bought mine from Sunset - $512 (yeah, I know, I know. It's a lot for a gear ****) but they told me the 4wd version has been discontinued and the 2wd version is a bit lightweight and chintzy. Bit disappointed with it to be honest.

Hi,

I bought a 993 gear **** advertised as a Turbo but which looks like the Tequipment one (aluminium one) : I literally jumped and went ahead and bought it but then realized too late : will it fit into a 1995 C2? Because I think the gear lever is different between RWD vs AWD (looks beefier on the AWD versions).

Thanks
