Question 996 oil return valve 993 upgrade?

There's an Arena Red 1996 Porsche 993tt for sale in the 993 discussion forum. Listed in the options/upgrades is "996 oil return valves". Is this specific to turbos? Is this a desirable upgrade? I thought I knew all the options I have to spend my money on.

Nothing to see here for us normally aspirated folks. All the oil we need "returned" is quite contained within the engine itself.

Yup, it's to stop the oil from draining back in to the Turbos...so unless you have a turbo you have not been telling anyone, nothing to get.. :-)

Yup, lots of threads on it in turbo forum.

Had them upgraded on my TT early last year with a full gasket service.

Indication that the owner was paying attention to the details, like a good caretaker should

The only oil I need returned is slowly seeping from the cam chain cover.

Wait, people are putting 996 parts on a 993? Isn't that going to give us an intermediate shaft failure?

If a 996/997 Turbo/GT2/GT3 engine dropped in my lap, I wouldn't hesitate to start hacking up a 993 chassis to accommodate front coolant radiators..............

To be fair, if it were dropped in your lap, you'd probably be headed to the hospital first.
