Default OT: seller's remorse and the buyers who bought their cars

I think we've all sold cars that we've later regretted...

But... how many of us have been on the other side of that transaction... those of us who have bought these gems and continue enjoying them today?

Let's share some of these great stories! I'll start... prompted by a request by Cactus to see more pics of my old BMW.

Stats:
1983 320is
23K original miles
1.8L inline 4 replaced with Ray Korman 2.8L stroker inline 6
Metric Mechanic Tranny
James Blanton Diff
5 lug conversion
BBK up front
rear drums replaced with 6 series discs
retrofit BMW power steering
retrofit BMW power windows
full Recaro interior including recovered door skins and rear seats
Bilstein Sports
Racing Dynamic Springs
Massive sway bars...
had been in the rain 5 times
Bought with 3 sets of tires and wheels (all kind of ugly) and the spare factory limited diff...

Delivered on a flatbed to my door, all for $7,500

I have owned about 22 cars in the 25 years I've been driving. I can honestly say that I've never regretted selling any single one of them. Interestingly, I often buy another car of the same model as the one sold/demolished. Had 3 1st Gen MR2s, 2 E30s, 2 993s, will definitely have another Miata once/if the current one is gone.

But... if I bought a car that someone was reluctant to sell and valued that much sentimentally, I'd probably feel a bit guilty. Which would distract from the whole experience. I actually drive them, so stuffing one into a wall is a possibility. GO 'xplain it to the previous owner, Lucy. Don't need this drama, no sir.

PS. Regardless of that, this is one very nice E21. I'd prefer round taillights BNW, but that might just be teh best example of an E21 left in the world, no exaggeration.

I bought this 1964 Silver Mink T-Bird from a friend of mine about 10 years ago. It's got the factory 390 (6.4L) 4BBL carb V8 that put out about 300 horses from the factory. I've changed a little under the hood with an Edelbrock carb, intake manifold, etc. Maybe the car puts out 330 horses now, I dunno.

It's a great beach car for summer days in Los Angeles. I paid $8,000 for it. Best money I've ever spent on a car.

That T-bird is sweet! Would love to have something like that someday. And in Chicago the huge trunk would come in very handy...

Actually, there is NO trunk.

The entire trunk lid opens up clam-shell style and takes the top. All there is in there is the spare tire, lots of hydraulics and relays.

That T-Bird brings back memories. I remember when a neighbor bought one new. It was special then too. You need to buy some clear (not on file) black and yellow California license plates off of eBay and get them registered that car. It need, it requires the old plates.

That bird looks so... perfectly California. Beautiful and timeless.

Certz, it wouldn't look right in Chicago. Nor in Boston

I know... it's a Ford Econo-box... but I miss my old 02 SVT Focus. 6 speed, 170 hp, light weight, and fun to toss around on a twisty road.

Made a few changes for comfort, performance, safety.

Eibach Pro Kit
European Appearance Wheels
OEM HID Headlamps
Euro "ST" Grill

I'm friends with the guy that bought it, he's taken good care of it and it's treated him well.

That is one beautiful Thunderbird! BMW is an e21.. the father of the e30. The 1983 model is the last year of the 1st 3 series, build between 1977 (there are technically some 1976 model cars) and 1983. It is really fun to drive, and sad that so many of them are now in the junkyard... I expect the popularity of this unloved model to inrease over time... they're still not worth anything, but they are fun

That there black car ain't E30

Cactus, E30 makes for a good daily car, especially a 325iS. But they are old and most of them have been pretty well abused. They also do rust after a while here on East Coast. But they are good drivers and parts are very cheap if you look around. A good suspension, Z3 shifter, good set of brake pads and tires and they are fun.
