just for fun... a known sale here in NorCal (friend & client of ours)
sold a 32K mile, midnight blue met, tiptronic cabriolet for $36K. Nice 993 but nothing else remarkable about it except that it has a recently replaced ZF steering rack and the work was done by a really great shop

I have a 58K mile, tip, Blue Turquoise cab I'd sell for that price
Heck, I'd even discount it a few K.

I'm too old for that. Gave up arguing with women in my 30th. Not that it changed anything

True, that. The only question is - how do I determine what's a deal?

I just bought my 95 C2 Midnight Blue/Grey with 27k miles on it, records from day 1, overall 9 out of 10 with the help of Arena993 (Mike) for $28k.

I spent a couple months looking (seemed like at every car out there), and I was focused on < 45k miles with a solid service history. That range had me in the $32-38k range all day long. Lots of really outstanding cars, and a couple lemons post PPI.

Still seems like a really great deal at that price for my car, but who knows, when you're in love....

So I have to come up with a value. Unlike a commodity-like things (cars, even 993s) these are really unique one-off pieces of art. How does one come up with a value? I've been wrecking my brain for the last week and a half on this.
One thing I can tell you ... if she has paintings hanging in a gallery somewhere, take their price, cut it in half, and that's how much she's likely to be making off the gallery sale.

Mike, if she's a good artist ... and you think her work has commercial potential, strike a deal where you will produce and sell giclee prints of her originals for a few hundred bucks. You can really make some bucks if you invest in the printer, or find someone who has one and cut a deal. It's just high resolution scans of her originals printed inkjet on canvas stretched over wood bars, and it looks like an original. If she's getting $2000 a painting, and you can make 20 giclee prints for $50 apiece and sell 'em for $300 ... you get the idea. There are some contemporary artists on eBay who are making a killing doing that. Search for "The Raw Artist" ... she's raking it in.

Vic, thanks!

She's not a known artist, nor do I think she'll ever be. Doesn't sell through galleries. Just a small studio among a bunch of other studios in South End and she sells paintings directly from there.

I don't think I'll ever make prints, nor that anyone would buy them. Than again, maybe I'm completely missing the value. I'll definitely look into it.

You sold it already?

Holy smokes man, I didn't know you could get a deal like that! I think you will be happy about that price for years to come.

^^ I'd want a 90K V-ram car to have a new top end. Find out if Dawydiak has maintenance records.^^^

BTW- they shoot all of their cars out in the street. Their "signature" look, I suppose...

Do you love that color? If not, I'd keep looking for an enthusiast-owned car with suspension and 18" wheels done.

+1

If it has a top end job and newer clutch and you are ok with Arena then it is a fair price IMO.

I bought a great condition 96 993 C2 Cabrio w/ 36K miles for $37,000. I was willing to pay a little more for this particular car as it had a black body with the Blood Red Leather interior, AM stereo, 6 disk changer, amp & hands free. All maintenance and documents.

Arena Red is a great color especially with cashmere interior. Don't have one, yet.
