I think one of the problem is these type of great deals are usually on craiglist and gone within days or even hours of posting. Once its gone there is no record of it anywhere. I just saw a black 97 c2 5xk for 19k on CL yesterday. It disappeared within hours of posting.

I will allow you more than that. You 993 is worth $65K. Mine is worth in the low $20s. Hope that satisfies your believes and makes you feel so much better.

When you have something of any substance to offer to the original poster, please do so. As of right now your opinions will cost him several thousand dollars. But, hey, it's not your money, right?

I was being facetious.

Ultimately the discussion is pointless. Everyone has their own idea of what a 'good' deal is for a 993 based on the facts available concerning a certain vehicle. The trick is for the seller and buyer to come together and consummate a deal that both are happy to complete.... if not, then move on. There are plenty of 993's out there......

I Sold 1 month ago a very nice 95 C2 with 32k miles for $34,500. It had locking diff. Chrome 17" Cup 2's, Polar siver with Black leather that was near perfect, RS ride height, 6-speed, heated seats, Alpine deck and changer. Paint was a 9.5 out of 10. I have not seen anything close since then for a similar price. I think I would be hard pressed to find a like replacement for the same money.

There are enthusiast owned 993s and there are craiglist/ebay/used car lot 993s. Buying a car from a Rennlister or pca member or even Sloan/Holt/True Speed will usually get you a well cared for car with records, no undisclosed accidents, up to date maintenace and possibly some mods. The craigslist/ebay/used car lot specials can be had for the rock bottom prices that Nile is talking about but usually have issues. during my 993 search I viewed and drove several cheap 993s (low-mid $20k range at that time)and each one had issues, ranging from no service records, to slipping clutches to oil leaks to rust bubbles. I went with an enthusiast owned car, all records, original paint etc and gladly paid a premium for it. By the way I am not disparaging anyone who buys/sells cars on ebay or craiglist.

Default Classic Porsche 911 prices have gone up

UK Rennlister's recent post on Total911.com:

"Classic Porsche 911 prices have gone up: Philip Raby looks at Porsche 911 prices from a few years ago."

[QUOTE=nile13;8045664]Do any of you have any _proof_, any facts to support sales of '95 C2 coupe with proverbial 50K miles for $30K+? [QUOTE]

Not 50K miles but well over $30K. There is another RLer, can't remember username, who bought a very nice Slate Grey 95 C2 coupe with more than 50K miles for approx. $31K (US) within the last 8-9 months. My neighbor bought a 95 C2 coupe (blk/blk if it matters) with 130K miles for $20K (US) exactly 1 year ago.......knowing it needed work (needed work totalled roughly $3K, plus he added wheels/tires/suspension bringing the total to ~$29K US. Car is fully up to date service-wise.).

My point? Like I said earlier and like others have said, the market for these cars can vary tremendously (100%....maybe even more) depending on the vehicle in question. Are there people getting useable sub $20K 993s out there? Of course! This does not make a $35K (or more) 993 (still talking 95 C2 coupe here) a bad deal.

Discussion-worthy topic? Every minute of every day! Worth fighting over? I didn't think so......

Greg, I bought my current 993 from a Rennlister. With records, PPI and Rennfax by a local Rennlister. So I'm talking about a broader market.

Than again, it's an interesting question that Vic already made and I agreed with. A known contributing Rennlister car is worth more (hey, you can do a search pf posts and see what ailed the car and what's been done, right?). Is it worth 5% more? 10% more? Surely not 20-25% more, I hope? Otherwise my cab is gold

BTW, on a semi-related topic. I'm in process of buying a painting from an artist right now. Not a known artist. She has some sales, but they are not auction sales, not really documented (sound familiar, eh?). She says that's how much she sells the paintings for and that's what she's asking.

So I have to come up with a value. Unlike a commodity-like things (cars, even 993s) these are really unique one-off pieces of art. How does one come up with a value? I've been wrecking my brain for the last week and a half on this.

that painting is worth what someone is willing to pay...it's the same with cars. If you think you got a deal, then you got a deal regardless of anything anyone else thinks. Basic rule of economics...

Nile, can you come be my wingman the next time I have an argument with my wife? You might actually have the raw persistence/staying power to win one with her....something I cant seem to do...
