Do any of you guy's use Xenit to clean the engine compartment? Or is it too harsh/non-compatible?

I would not use it except for cosmoline & grease removal. It's not really a AP or GP cleaner. There is far better out there for less $$.

Mongrelcat, that engine wasn't even dirty to start with.

It is too harsh for paint.

Plus Xenit and water do not mix well when it comes to rinsing it off. You then need a water-based degreaser to finish the job.

You should really try to get a pail of Swish Facto AT-30. As far as water-based degreasers go, there is none better. And it is safe for anything around a car...it is approved for mass transit vehicles such as aircraft.

Never groomed it (dont look too close or you will see the layer of dust on the plenium!) - but it looks presentable now the fans been colour keyed and RS heater bypass in CF has been installed.....

The heater bypass sure cleans up the engine bay. Even with the dust on the plenum.

Kevin.

Nice!

I already have pictures of your engine on file from another thread!

When I next drop my engine I am going to have the manifold removed and painted P61W "steel grey" (same as my fan and wheels etc) just like you have done. Its a low cost mod that I think really lifts our sometime "pedestrian" looking engines. Great thinking!

Cheers
M
