Default Annual maintance costs

Looking into getting a 993 in the near future still underimined if I will go with a 95 w/o the SAI or with the 96 and up with the Varioram Probley spelt wrong ) but just curious what I would be looking at for annual; maintance costs I live in Ontario Canada so the car will be off the road from the end of October to the first of May.

Any help is graetly appreicated

TIA

anywhere from $200 (oil change only) to $10,000 (steering rack, valve guides, tires, etc).

I'd say once you get the car sorted (which can take a lot of cash, especially if you're a perfectionist), I'd say the average is about $1000 per year.

I agree with Quad's $1K per year average cost, although if you don't drive much, you may have six years out of 10 with just oil and brake fluid changes. Annual maintenance cost would be about the same, except when the '95 has worn valve guides you have more time to take care of it, whereas a '96 with an illuminated Check Engine Light may not pass your government emissions test.

Don't let OBD-I vs. II be a huge factor in your shopping. Condition, maintainance records and a color combination you like are all more important.

Probably less than a thousand for me. Mostly oil changes and fluid replacements, tires. I haven't had anything go really wrong with the car and haven't done any mod's, which would drive the total costs up quite a bit but wouldn't be reflected in annaul operating costs.

Yes sorry the car would get driven max 5-7K a year

also before I do get one the car would go through a thorough PPI at a reputable Porsche shop so hopefully I would be able to get a few years without having to replace the valve guides

Maintenance is one thing. Repairs are another. And, of course fuel and insurance, plus all the mods you'll mostly likely make as you fall down the slippery slope.

My maintenance costs so far this year are only a few hundred bucks. That's just maintenance. But add up everything in the yearly cost to keep a 993 on the road, and I spend thousands on the 993 every year. I suspect that's true for most 993 owners, especially if it's a DD and you don't do all the work yourself.

The most critical thing is how the car you buy was maintaned. Check all bills (if they are available): e.g. was the clutch replaced, in what conditions are the rotors, pads, is there hidden rust around the windscreen, are there oil leaks anywhere....I have always been very careful about maintainance, yet some years I only have the yearly costs (around Eur 1000 for oil and pads) other years Eur 3000 e.g. heat exchangers needing replacing or bushings needing replacement because they have had it....These are not young cars, and costs in good years are low, but othe years can be high.

I'd also comment on under $1000 a year, especially if you do a little DIY.
Every year, you got an oil change, $250 ( most of the time it's less, but why not go high, I paid $100 for my last one).
Every 2 years, brake fluid, maybe $50 if you get good fluid.
Then every 30Kmi, you got a big one, all fluids, belts, plugs & filters, that's about $500 in parts but you can find parts cheaper.

Little things, hood/trunk shocks, TIRES, TIRES, TIRES, maybe a bulb or 2.

The big issues is the SAI, but it affects the colder climate cars less, 95's suffer the same issue, just not CEL.

The WORST part of owning a 993, the slippery slope, if you start to get any go fast parts, you will spend way more then $1g a year!

The icing on the cake is what kills you. I've had mine for 2 months and have 2 pairs of seats and 3 sets of wheels.

I've added LPMM, rear spoiler, trim rings, turbo intake, carbon heater tube, working on shocks and spring... on and on.

Probably $500/mo with mods, $50/mo without (including amortizing tires, belts, etc.)

Maintenance costs? Not that bad once the car is where it needs to be (as stated above). Problem is, you've found this place so maintenance costs are merely a drop in the bucket. Spend more than a few minutes on here (and I mean EVER, not a few minutes every day!) and your credit card will rack up faster than the national debt.

Did somebody mention tires? Apparently widebodies that have been lowered go thru them like kids go thru lifesavers - far more than with narrow body cars. Who knew?
