Nicely demonstrated. You fill the gap with more urethane?

Badabing, sounds like you were able to peel off the rubber trim pretty easily. It wasn't glued in?

Looking at section 64 12 51 of the 993 Manual, it shows a procedure to seal the windshield using a "cartridge of isolation material" although it gives no part number so I don't know what it is. Looks like once the windshield is set, you fill the gap with this goop and press the rubber trim into the goop. My squeaky windshield has some dried goop that oozed out from the trim on the B pillar so I'm worried that when I come to pull the trim off, it will be glued in place and I'll rip the old trim and not be able to fit the new trim without removing all the dried goop.

Does it depend on who put the windshield in? What have others found trying to get the rubber trim off?

There is flocking on the inside of the seal. When it wears out, you get creak. Rubber to metal.

So I can just pull off the old trim, put a new trim and I'll be good? Looks like PO already tried the rope what do you think?
Thanks for your help!

The rubber trim will not come out. My guess is, the PO stuffed the gap with rope and then ran a black mastic gun all round. And it still squeaks. It's going to be a hassle to get all that mastic out so I can fit my new rope and trim.

Perhaps the best I can do is fill in the sagging lower corners so the trim fits right.

I really hope that someone here can help you because seeing your pics made me feel your disillusionment.
I guess that cutting out the outer seal, removing the rope and the sealing material is the best way to go. And it will take you some time.
Buy a new outer seal and the rope (part # 996 541 903 00). I won't use sealing material.
Also have a look at this: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ar-window.html

I used their guy-he's actually a block down the road-and not a squeak since. It's been about six months.

I'd like to add a point on the creaking windshield. My car didn't have the problem when I bought it... But within the last year it started creaking and squeaking.

I cleaned under the outside rubber gasket with some Optimum brand spray cleaner wax remover, then used Opti Seal to lubricate underneath the gasket where it rests on the body.

No more squeak. It's disturbingly quiet now, since I grew to accept the squeaking as being normal.

Default Creaky Windshield

What is the product name of the Optimum brand spray cleaner wax remover? I could not find it using that term.

Opti-Clean @Silver Surfer

I don't think you need to specifically use either product I used. I am an Optimum user for 'most' of my washing/detailing. I also like Blackfire products.

I think, as a test, you could use anything on your detailing shelf to clean under the rubber gasket, then use something else to provide some protection for the paint and treatment for the gasket...
