550i. The E60 has a nice sounding n/a V8 and with the new F10 550i (with twin turbos) out now, a used CPO'd E60 550i should be priced nicely. It's almost close to M5 performance but without the "difficult-to-use in stop and go traffic" SMG tranny.

FYI 355's don't have adjustable valves.

I admit I have a passion for the RED cars but I have also talked more than a few friends out of buying them ...they are not for everyone. If you don't have an absolute passion for Ferraris then don't buy one. You will hate it when the major service comes due.

My favorite "all arounder" sports car is the 993.

Thanks guys and believe me, I'd much rather have a 07 750i or 07 550i BMW ... or 05-06 MB E55 or 05-06 MB S55 instead of the Lexus, but I have to get a totally reliable Japanese car next that isn't a money pit to fix when the warranty runs out. Trust me, I'm putting this off as long as possible!!! And, I've done my homework. I've spent hours and hours on the BMW and MB web forums and in the end, it felt like being on a Ferrari forum. Lots of expensive repairs potentially await the owner of an 07 car when the warranty runs out on these. My budget will be $34k or so for just one car.

About the orange looking wood? It's not really orange in real life. It's brown, and of a very high quality, the same wood they use in Yamaha pianos if I'm not mistaken. Yes, it's not a 993. I certainly realize that but a 7 year stretch of owning a 993 is still pretty great.

Not a 993 but it's not like I'll be driving a Yugo either. It could be a lot worse than this... And for the naysayers that say they're totally disconnected from the road, I've driven them twice now and they're not that way at all, though, I wouldn't mind getting disconnected from most of the roads in this area as they're full of potholes and terribly uneven road surfaces from the rough winter.

I don't plan on getting this executive rear seat feature, but it is cool, and usually only seen in cars like the Maybach

Rear DVD

Laugh all you want, but one day I plan on getting back to a 993! Maybe a TT or a Targa Tip

Not too orangey looking in person

For now, I'm still smiling, driving my car. Who knows, maybe with this new job I'm starting on Monday with my current company, I'll make enough in the year to actually keep both cars. The Lexus is my backup plan if one of the cars has a catastrophic repair in the next year or so...

On to the next post...

Lancia Delta Integrale if I can get my hands on that only one in California, or a Ford RS Cosworth.
Amen.

More seriously, for an almost DD I'd swap for a DB7 Volante except that I'd miss the targa roof too much. For that there really is no substitute.

I am in the same boat as a number of people here, would find it difficult to part with the 993. I get to drive many different cars (exotics included) and many people ask me what I prefer and almost always (almost) I say the 993.

If it had to be replaced it would be a GT3 (996 or 997, I'm not picky). I would probably lean towards the '6 GT3 for an experience closer to the 993.....

unfortunately, with the criteria of 'same money' i don't think I could even buy an early boxster....

early 95 cab
181k miles
Never had the engine out, no top end done, still has the original clutch from the factory!!
starting to show it's age, but not bad.

Basically, not worth selling...though i see no reason to.

But...if you took of the same $$ criteria....a GT3 would be about all I would replace it with at the moment.

Ironically....
We just found a few of our local PCA Region's old newsletters from 1976. For sale in it was a '74 RSR owned by a guy that right now has a perfect, concours winning, low mile RS America. He's the 'pefect concours winning' car kind of guy, so it was shocking to know he owned a real RSR.... probably wishes he still had it now!
