Question What would you replace your 993 with?

If for some crazy reason you sold your 993 today, what would you buy?

It has to be in the same price range as what you got for your 993.

Well I would get a 80-89 911 Or a E36 M3. The M3 is not in the same price range but I have had a itch for one for a long long time.

wow - that's a tough one.

I'd look for a 308GTS QV, a really nice M6, or a 356 coupe

I guess it would depend on what sort of driving I'm wanting. If it's to replace the feel and ownership of a 993, then maybe an earlier M3 as mentioned above. Or go with something really old like a Lotus Elan or an Alfa, etc..

But I'd be hard pressed to replace a 993 with anything else for a similar driving experience.

If you're looking to get away from that experience and get something more docile and everyday-like, then there are a lot of good choices out there. BMWs, Audis, MB/AMGs, etc..

Or try something like a Volvo S60R (somewhat rare but comfortable, safe, but still fast, and with AWD.) And a Volvo S70R would give you wagon space. I used to have a Volvo R and it was fast, sporty, yet still "sensible." A true sleeper. Get the last year model (2007), pretty reliable except for a couple of known issues that are easy to fix, but nothing that will leave you on the side of the road.

If there were no more 993s, I guess maybe an '05 997? M3? S4?

I might go with a supercharged Gen III viper, a very nicer Z06, possibly a F355 or older 360 modena, or a bunch of other options.

I'd have to sell it for much more than its worth to get rid of the 993, but if I did, and can't buy another 993, a ferrari 308QV might work. Maybe a Lotus Elise. I hope I'm fortunate enough to add to the 993 someday instead of replacing it.

I don't have a p-car right now but in the same price range I would consider a longhood RS clone, a 964 RS clone or a 6GT3 over a 993 (assuming a $50k 993 ). I might even consider an evoIII e30 M3. Eventually I'd probably find my way back home to a 993.

I drove one when I was 19. That whine at WOT will forever ring in my ears.
