I hate to say it, but I'll probably be replacing both my 993 and BMW with this at some point in the next year or 2 or 3. It is what it is...

Nah... a 2007 is down to as little as $32k asking price, now. They're a couple grand more with the Mark Levinson 19 speaker system vs the standard premium one.

2007 LS 460 52k mi, $32,785

Or ditch the Rolex Daytona; that thing should bring in some cash...

I will always own a big honking SUV but my next one will be a gas guzzling hybrid. Escalade ESV, Yukon or whatever big honking SUV that gets 20mpg on a good day in a few years.

I will own an American muscle car at some point--I like old Corvettes.

I'd just go find another one. Like the saying goes..."There is no substitute".

I must be getting old, because when my wife was car shopping, we took out an 06 SL500, and that felt pretty good to me. (She bought a CLK500 instead.)

I was flirting with an F355 a few months ago; hanging out in that forum on ferrarichat was enough to cure me of that infatuation. Tale after tale of "I heard a whining noise" or a "drain plug full of shavings" and the $15,000 repair bills that followed. Scared me straight. Not because I couldn't afford a $15k repair but because it's kinda ridiculous to be pouring $15k into a $60k car every few years. They talk about "normal" issues like cracked manifolds, bad cats, even engine fires caused by a fuel line designed to be right next to a sharp hose clamp like it's all part of the Ferrari experience.

Yikes.

We really have it easy in a 993, comparatively.

If the money had to be the same or similar my list in preference:

965
72 or 73 long hood
Cayman

But in reality, I feel like I've got my dream car all things considered.

Yikes, I've never seen the inside of a Lexus before. Is that a wooden cutting board in the console? Why is it orange?

Oh no.

Let's not start hassling Steve again. We don't have to buy into his world view... because it's his world view.

I agree. And no hassling intended on my end. I seriously have never seen the inside of a Lexus (let alone drive one.) I was honestly surprised by the layout (the first thing that came to mind was that chunk of wood; and it looks orange.)

No doubt they are super reliable cars with all the necessary daily commuting goodies. But there's something about the interior layout that's certainly different than most makes(?) Or maybe just because I'm unfamiliar with it.....

Steve-when you're ready, maybe look around for a cpo'd M5 that's 3 or 4 years old or so....
Just a thought. What a great family cruiser!
