Default $2500 bill and worth every penny!

I got my 993 back after 1 & 1/2 weeks in the shop and a $2500 bill and wow what a car. You certainly appreciate things a lot more when you have been without.

I spent the weekend away with my lovely wife over in the Wairarapa (NZ) and drove some brilliant roads. Went over the Akatarara's and then the Rimutaka's (for those that are Kiwi's here) and what a blast. The car ran faultlessly and is so rewarding to drive.

Here are some pics from the trip back taken on the Paekakareki foreshore.

I posted a few weeks ago about a leaking steering rack. I had the rack removed by my Indy and sent for refurbishment and re-istalled. Evidently the chrome had degraded on the shaft causing the shafts to wear away at the rack seals.

The rest of the work I had done is listed below.

Rack repair $910
Freight $15
Wheel Align $70
Steering rack boot $56
Alloy sump washer (4) $6.40
ATF fluid $16
Scan tool charge $40
Mobil 1 $220
Oil filters $92
Screen cleaner $4
Cleaning Fluid $3.75
Alloy sump washer $3.20
Injector cleaner $15
Labour 9hr $720

Total $2442.77

They also fixed the airbag light

Yes, long winters do the same. Its like getting a new car every spring.

Great pics. It sounds like it was an awesome trip!

Very nice car...like the Red/black combo....

You are a braver man that me though, having your woman actually sit on the bodywork! I do not like it even if they just lean on the body...

It would take yet a braver man to ask them to get off the car

We drove all over NZ for 3 weeks in 2007. You have incredible roads and scenery there. But I have not visited any of the places you mentioned. Better plan another visit.

I'd live in NZ if I could.

Though my trip was back in '97. Closest I got to that area was Queenstown for a couple days, and a quick flyover of Milford Sound (unfortunately the wind was wrong for landing on the little strip there.)

@Kiwi Carguy; Anyway, great car (love the wheels) -- great girl -- great landscape... Anytime you want to post more pics I would love to see them.

Thanks Mike. I love my cars but they are not not precious to me and I can assure you that the guard was in exactly the same condition after the photos I'm fortunate in that this one unlike my others is not pristine with a few chips here and there from constant use. I enjoy it more as there is less guilt involved.

I had an Ex Sultan of Brunei car and that was a lovely to own but had an responsibility attached with it to maintain it's history. Kind of like the Minty 964 Turbo.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I remember you planning your trip CP. It is lovely here and we have a lot to be thankful for. There are certainly great roads and scenery however they are very strictly policed.

There are some areas that are more remote and therefor less likely to attract the fuzz but in the places mentioned in my thread they are tight and twisty so no huge speeds are reached.

I have a good camera now so intend on taking some good pictures on my travels.
