Really-how many pages does it take to change a light bulb?

I was wondering if we could make 4 pages....

FWIW. I stopped by my local NAPA today looking for the 17037 bulbs, none on the rack. Went to the counter and they couldn't find 17037 in their parts system, had them check BP17037 and they found them (BP stands for bubble pack which means there's 2 in the pkg). Problem is, there are none in the 48 local stores or the local warehouse, and there's a total of 1 in the main warehouse in Memphis, TN. It's now on it's way to my local store. Hope others have better luck.

I test software for a living, my job in addition to finding defects is to provide EXPLICIT recreate instructions to developers whose noses are so deep in a java class that they don't know how to configure a process to start automatically (this is not Windows or Linux, but rather an obscure point-of-sale specific operating system)... I write explicit instructions for recreates that are bulletproof. Many of the DIY instructions I've seen on the web that include pictures are just so.

When I get an answer to a question that doesn't have all the info I need, I'll ask more explicit questions.

I'll continue to do my best to reach 5 or more pages if the entertainment value gives certain folks a charge.

Went to NAPA, job done. Yes, it was easy, but since I usually break everything physical that I touch (believe me, I have tried more than I should have) I ask explicit questions.

To those who provided answers, THANK YOU.

Those that want to make fun of someone who's not DIY-inclined can just kiss my a$$...

Just to see if I push this thread to a 5 page one.... instead of a screwdriver, use a plastic knife with rounded tip. It will be less likely that you'll damage the rubber gasket or scratch the plastic disc.

Are we at 5 yet?

Engine tray anyone?

I think you guys are creating a huge inventory surge at the NAPA store... I can see the purchasing manager at Corporate say to fellow co-workers.... we have 589 back orders on these $0.10 light bulbs that we need to fill..... what the hell is going on? Why is everyone buying these little light bulbs, that's do a market survey!!!

The NAPA guy at the counter said something about it being a MB replacement bulb, I didn't tell him I wanted it for a Porsche.

Bill,
I'm surprised they didn't have it in stock. The guy I worked with at NAPA said it was used in Porsche, MB, BMW, Jag and a lot of other European cars. He went behind the counter and got it from a bin that had about 20 or so in it. The light is a small thing that goes unnoticed until someone brings it up in a thread.

Alright! This just officially became my first DIYer on my C2S that I just picked up this morning. I just pulled the **** off as Quadcammer suggested and removed the bulb.... about a 30 second ordeal. Hopefully they'll have a bulb in stock at Napa. I wish I knew about these inexpensive bulbs at Napa back a few years ago when I replaced several of them in my SL with bulbs purchased from the Mercedes dealer.

I know, I know, I'll get pics up and details of the, new to me, ride as soon as I get 'er cleaned up and some sunshine. In the mean time, can't thank you all enough for the education I got reading and searching the 993 forum. What a great resource! Did we get to 5 pages?

Hopefully, we just did. If not, I can cry in my beer and that in itself will take up lots of space. I must LOVE this car for the beating I'm taking with repairs so far. Somebody encourage me please!

Ok, so I saw this thread and thought wow my headlight *** does not light up so I stopped by Napa and they had them, they come in a bag of 10, Wagner bulbs made in Germany for .98 cents each. So I get home tonight and change the bulb, cool fixed somthing that I didn't know was broken. So now I realize that my cig lighter does not light up now either.
