NAPA sells the bulb. Part # 17037 $.99. Very easy to replace. If I remember correctly, I was able to get a small strip of duct tape to wrap around and stuck to the bulb and pulled it right out.

It's a TIP...no need to illuminate it...

Yes, you can actually buy the Sylvania 2721 for around $3.50. 2 Per pack.

Here is an old picture as a reference. The bulb just pulls out.

Don't do the bulb!!!!

I changed mine out to get it working.....and once working, it is the MOST ANNOYING THING while driving at night because you will see the lighted headlight **** in your side mirror. VERY DISTRACTING. There were others in the past who did this and reported the same thing. I didn't believe it and had to find out for myself.

while driving at night because you will see the lighted headlight **** in your side mirror.
Simple fix - you can "dim" the bulb by just putting a thin piece of translucent plastic (like a shopping bag scrap) or paper over the bulb opening before you put the **** cover back on. Easy fix, can be "adjusted" by varying the density of the translucent plastic, and 100% reversable. As long as you don't stuff the plastic down on top of the bulb heat is not an issue, at least it wasn't for me.

ok, I just noticed mine is out. Do you pry the flat center section of the switch (with the lights icon on it) out of the switch or the outer 'softer rubberized' switch surround off of the center section ?

Trust me, everything I touch I break, so I always need to make SURE I know what to do first.

thanks

I looked at the description for the 2721 on its packaging and it appeared as if it is rated at 6.5 watts. This may lead to a brighter than normal light causing some of the ill affects stated in other posts. The bulb from NAPA has 1.2 watts labelled on it. I don't have problems with too much light coming from the switch using the 1.2 watts.

I've always found the 6.5 watts to be a bit intrusive and prefer the subtle lighting of the NAPA 1.2 watt bulb. The NAPA 1.2 watt bulb adds a touch of ambiance to the cabin without overpowering the the eyes of the driver. Someone has too much time on their hands. Hummel, lets cop a DC-10 and head for Antigua. I'll call the boys at FD Motorsports and have them gas up the Gulfstream. We'll chill for the weekend. You call Andreas I'll put the word out for Cactus.

take a very small flat head screwdriver, and cover the tip in some electrical tape (for you **** types). Then slide that under the rubberized coating, and gently pry the cover with the icon out. Go slow and it will come out pretty easily.

Maybe I have my part numbers reference wrong,. but my bulb is a 1.2 watt one. Lighting is subtle and soft with no reflection on any mirrors nor overwhelming brightness to distract me.

Let's take the 747. We'll bring the girl's. It's got room for the hot tub and the tennis court.

Thanks. I know I am dense (I am more visual so when I see photos I'm clear) but are you talking about using the screwdriver at the 'bottom of the rubberized 'sides' of the switchcover and pushing the sides up moving around the entire switchcover until it comes off, or are you talking about inserting the blade of the screwdriver between the rubberized 'sides' of the switchcover and the round disc 'top' of the switchcover (that has the icon) to separate the disc from the 'sides' ?

Maybe when I do it I should take photos and send them to whoever owns the DIY sites.
