s2k, and its the rarest color combo haha. The only car I never had issues with thieves was my extremely modified Acura RSX. Hopefully having another Honda works out this time. It's nice as I have all the tools to work on the car myself this go around.

Welcome to S2K ownership! I'm on my second as my daily driver after 2 NSX's and love it. Cheap and fun motoring. However, I'm also looking for a 993 as you can see in my sig.

I wonder if you'll miss owning a 993 though...?

It's sad as I was working hard on my new business so I could hopefully get a Ferrari or 2 sooner than later. Now I have no desire for any form of exotic. At least I got to own one of the coolest Porsches.
Showoff's drive Ferrari's..................

First off, this was an amazing thread. I have been a little complacent at times so I thank you for the wake up call. There has been fantastic advise about protection of my baby and what to do if the worse happens. Thank you all.
In your case, however, you ended up scoring and not taking advantage of the situation. Payout for your mods or not, you got the better deal. 993's are being given away in this economy. You could have purchased a lower mileage car with the mods already installed for $30k and you passed it up for a Honda.
Well, I guess the thought of invasion can have quite an effect, psychologically. But if you get your house robbed, would you give up and move to the ghetto? Or The Valley? Of course not.
Somehow, I think your future will bring you back to this site with a thread all about your new 993.
I hope so.

Good point. Though just because the new car is a Honda doesn't mean it's not a fun car to drive. It's different yet similar to the 993. Small quick car that is fun to drive. And if a Ferrari is a show off car, then that makes sense why I wanted 2. BTW I became an engineer because of the NSX, and since I am too tall to fit in one, the 993 was the next choice when I was looking. Maybe as I get older, just turned 30, I will be back into the more exotic car market.

Seriously!, watch your cars. I do not live in the hood by any means.

This is a local report from our paper a couple days ago,
3600 block of Saint Elizabeth Road: A Glendale man reported Wednesday that someone broke into his home and searched his car, which was parked in the garage.

I know it was asked but not answered. Was your car a non imobilzer 1995?

Very curious if the thiefs have figured a way around that yet.

This whole stupid area is a piece of garbage. I was hit by kids throwing ice out of their house with my top down the other night in my current car. It was only obvious since there was plenty of ice and other things in the middle of the street. Like I said above, there are some extremely famous actors and other folks living this direction, it's just pathetic that no one seems to care to do anything about the problem.

I am surprised I saw some nice 993's over the weekend parked on streets. Hopefully they are on rennlist and realize they shouldn't be parking like that if they are home. I could sense my GF could feel my pain at the sight and how I slowed down and couldn't stop looking. =(

A big funny or not so funny, is that I now 100% know, the police won't do a single thing over here. Don't take this lightly, other owners in the LA County area.

I feel your pain... It's been a year since my house was robbed. Cops lifted prints and everything. It's been more than A year & still waiting for the finger print results to come back. All they want to do is file their report and move on to the next report.

...sad comment, but the crummy reality of large urban centers. Police do what they can do, which is very little of course as they are inundated with more pressing matters than property loss. So unless the obvious incriminating evidence on actual suspects land on top of a dick's desk, none of these crimes is getting solved ...frustrating!

I've lived in greater LA for going on 40 years, from growing up in the hood (back in the 70s when it was not nearly this bad!!) to yuppie areas where naturally (and unfortunately) car and stereo thefts (with the tell-tale broken glass on the street) were much more prevalent ...ask anyone on the "west side" an affluent neighborhood bordering UCLA, BelAire, BevHills, where car theft is the worst in greater LA (as per a report I saw years ago). I know Glendale...certainly not the hood, but certainly an above-average median income there so guess where the A-holes are going to prey upon (who not coincidently live in adjacent areas).

Thankfully, I have now moved to "upper suburbia" for these last dozen years, away from the popl density, reducing the likelihood of "getting hit." But vigilance is still always prevalent in the brain (old habits die hard). Out of sight/out of mind is the best we can do to keep the predatory Cretans out of our hair.

I feel your pain, believe me (BTDT ...hated it). Think of this as a teachable moment for you. The jerks can take the possessions, but they will always be jerks. You have insurance to replace the objects, but you have no mechanism to replace your happiness. So stay positive, look toward better things, and leave the miscreants to their miserable lives as you continue in your own content! Best to you!!

Edward
