Sorry, about your joy ride Porsche being riped off. A Lo Jack tracking system is needed if you are sure you want your car to be recovered if it gets riped off, installing a Lo Jack tracking system in your car in SO. CAL. will lower your ins. rates too. My gess is that it will sitting around parked for a couple of days just to see if it has a tracking device installed in it. Unless they know that it does not currently have one. Good luck..... ;-(

That's just awful. I lived in Glendale until relatively recently, and still have family there; it's disturbing to think that the times when I left my car in the driveway might have set me up for something like this. Best of luck coming to terms with this loss.

Ugh! So sorry. Being nearby, I have an especially large knot in my stomach for you. So was it hooked to a tow truck or being pushed out by hand? Which engine started, the 993 or the tow truck? I'd be so tempted put some 00 buck in the rear window of that tow truck. When I come back from a drive, my wife usually has the 6' redwood gates open for me and I pull through without stopping near the street. My garage is in the back.
I think the '95 security system may be easier to defeat than the '96 up Immobilizer.
My Harley was stolen in a garage that I shared with just 7 other resdents. Fork lock, disc lock, Cobra linked to a post in the back and covered. I too was stalked and targetd.
I wonder if yours is going back to Europe. Maybe you should post your VIN for the world to see?

I'm guessing this a '95 without the immobilizer which makes these crooks especially crafty as I doubt they'd have gotten an immobilizer car running that easily. This was probably a steal to order for the parts so recovery, if it happens, won't likely be in one piece. For now I'd just forget it and worry about my insurance claim.

It is so sad to think about all the low life's out there prowling around our neighborhoods. Sounds like you've got insurance so they will cover it. Prepare to argue about the value though.
My wife's 65 beetle was stolen out of South Coast Plaza's parking lot. They found the pan and license plate several weeks later. Very sad. But the insurance company did pay "fair market value".

For the next go around, people walking around the property will be on nightvision cameras. I barely slept. The Fair Market Value part bothers me. Along with hoping they will cover the modded parts. I know this is pretty different on each company and how they handle it.
I am now regretting not doing an alarm like on my last car. That was the only car I ever had that didn't get parts stolen, and it was an Acura. Go figure. LoJack will definately be a feature I will have in for next time. Does anyone here think they will actually find my car intact?

Sorry, friend. Chances are, no.
That said, I feel for you. Unfortunately, you and I live in one of worst cities on the planet for thieves and also inconsiderate and thoughtless drivers. My heart goes out to you.

Sorry to hear this -- I've never experienced a car being stolen, but many years ago someone broke into my former Porsche and ripped the stereo out of the dash. It's a horrible feeling.
Over the weekend, I witnessed a fatal head-on collision. I was driving through a two-lane tunnel and the car in front of me hit the curb on the right and shunted into the oncoming lane of traffic. I don't want to describe what the aftermath looked like. Cars are easy to replace; people aren't. At least in your case, it was just a car. Sorry again to hear about what happened.
