Default Do you ever drive your 993 barefoot? I did today and it's pretty cool...

So I ran out of the house, late to meet a friend and all I had on my feet were a pair of Croc sandles. No, not the totally ugly ones, but the cooler looking sandles. In any case, I got in the 993, took off and realized that the sandles which had no back to them kept sliding off a bit while driving, or just generally felt loose and fairly unsafe to drive my sports car in.

On the way back from my buddy's house, I decided to take them off, and slipped my bare feet onto the awaiting pedals. Ahhhhh - now that's sweet. Yeah, some of you may be turning up your nose at me thinking, "that's no safer than having on the sandals", but it wasn't more than 4 miles or so for me to go, it was late on Sunday night so traffic was very minimal, and driving barefoot ended up being a real "one with the car" feeling that's hard to beat.

I'm guessing Californians and Floridians drive barefoot more than the rest of us U.S. drivers, but have any of you driven your 993 barefoot and found the experience rather delightful?

I drive barefoot all the time. I take off my flip flops or cowboy boots. They are not stable.

Why the mention? It is no big deal. Certainly not unsafe.

Yes, but my aluminum pedals are a bit painful. Or my feet are tender. Not sure which.

I drive more often in barefeet than with shoes. Its a w/end ride and I'm So Cal where its always summer!!! The aluminum pedals are a bit slippery for the ol' flip-flops anyway.

Metal pedals can be a bit cold on some days. Stock OEM pedals aren't very soft. Sheepskin pedal booties work great.

My car is predominantly a weekender and I was just thinking the other day that I most certainly have driven the majority of the 9000 miles I have put on the car barefoot.

I wear flipflops pretty much anytime I'm not at work....................I just kick 'em off after I jump in the 993.

I mentioned it because I've never done it, thinking it would be hard to do with bare feet (due to a fairly stiff clutch), and because I have the metal pedals I thought it would be tough on my feet. Both of these reasons got quashed today as it was an enjoyable experience. I am surprised by the amount of people that responded so far that drive their 993 barefooted. I just figured it was the type of car that required foot wear. I guess I was wrong!

So there's now a bunch of "out of the closet" foot freaks here.... Interesting. I guess the warm weather has brought this out of you guys. i suppose I'm the opposite. I live in Miami and I always wear long pants, a long sleeve tee shirt with a shirt over it and shoes and socks 365 days a year. You Northern'ers are a little off........

can't stand to drive barefoot. No matter what car it is. I'm much faster in shoes. Goes against the norm...but hey, it works for me!

I have neuroma's (benign nerve tumours) on both feet. It would be painful to drive w/o shoes, so I'll keep them on. The rest of you, enjoy!

Another floridian voting for barefoot driving. Flip flops are important here.

It does feel good but very thin shoes still feel better.

I have never been able to use a clutch with flip flops on. The 993 was the hardest of them to attempt this with.
