Thanks Bill, that pic is perfect! Now I understand what I'm doing, hopefully I can get it done this weekend.

Hi Joe, I also got the locking kit, so will comment on both the arm and locks.

I also purchased the boots for the rod ends, so they'll go on as well.

Hi Jeff,

What boots and what size did you go for? I have a set of taretts that are itching to be put on the car,but I also wanted water protection.

Cheers,

Mike

Yup, like the sealsit boots...but not sure what size to get for the Taretts...I guess I had better get my measuring devices out..

Cheers,

Mike

I ordered mine from the AED site (see pg 2 of this thread), RERS3 14mm. They were just 1 state over from me so I got them a few days quicker than some of the other sites mentioned.

Have you put them on yet? I noticed that 14mm might be a tad loose on the male end, I measured it just shy of 13mm. Then again, its all rubber, and the next size down appears to be way too tight..

Cheers,

Mike

Yes, I have installed one just to check, and the hole for the threaded rod end is smaller than 14mm, it's quite snug

Finished the Tarett install yesterday, will post a complete write up later. Not hard at all, took me a couple of hours per side, mostly because I was going slow to triple check EVERYTHING as I was doing it.

Only issue I had was in the locking plate, the supplied bolt is longer than the Porsche camber bolt, and I could not install the bolt on the drivers side from the back because of the heat exchanger. Lifting the engine didn't give enough room.

So I installed the bolt from the front, and now the threaded end touches the sway bar. I'll be off to the store today to get a new cutoff wheel to remove some length.

It will all make sense when I post pics.

Sounds good Jeff! Pictures would be great, especially with respect to the boots, etc.

Quick question about the locking plates...they looked to me just like a piece of plate steel with a hole, and a corresponding bolt?

How did you maintain the alignment good enough to drive to the alignment shop? Did you measure the distance from a fixed spot on the frame to the suspension, take it all apart, and then dial in the new arm to match? (That is how I was thinking of doing it..).

Cheers,

Mike

Mike, yes I measured before I tore everything down, it was the first pic I took. I measured from the rotor to the bracket holding the sway bar. One side measured 14" almost exactly, the other was a touch under.

Once I got the new rods in I cranked them out to those measurements and tightened down the lock bolts.

That should get me to the alignment guy, who's only two miles away.

Just as a reference for future searchers, there's a place in the UK that does exchanges on the OEM version of these:
