Well, I was gonna refer you to Bumperplugs.com, a site sponsor, who sells nice silver Porsche hood crests. I bought mine a few years ago for $129 and it's been great.

Unfortunately, a trip to their website later and they now sell it for $279!!!

..let's see now. Worst recession/unemployment/deflation since the 30's and silver hoodcrests go up 40 to 60%? Am I missing some life-changing opportunity here?

The silver hoodcrest, like clear corner lenses, is a trend I don't get. So very:

Shallow.

Juvenile.

Immature.

Boy Racer.

Pimped out.

Especially since we all know the practical solution is a $5,000 set of gold BBS E88's to make your gold crest and amber turn signals ROCK.

I have a "black chrome" badge I bought from the same supplier for sale for $160
It is a silver crest with a slightly blackened look
It might as well be new.

EDIT: Sold

here is the link to the crest: http://pcars.com/porsche_parts/shop....it/p_3014.html

It looks like the original part is now $170.00 (the latest price from Pelican and Porsche dealers.) I guess Porsche increased the price of their gold crests dramatically for whatever reason. Just last year one from the dealer was under $100.

And then you have the additional cost to convert the OEM gold crest to a silver one......

I bought a silver crest from another supplier a few months ago...cost was $100.00....finally got around to putting it on and......the contour of the badge does not match the contour of my hood. The badge is more curved and will not sit flat on my hood.....

Must be part of Angela Merkle's plan to shore up the German economy .....
