993 Speedster F.A Porsche
I went down to Stuttgart in June 2011 to see the original 993 Speedster in the Porsche Museum Zuffenhausen. The owner is Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, as you all might know. He´s ill at the moment, it´s very sad!

Speed-Star (Speed-Ster! )-- Anyone with first-hand photos of Butzi's beauty is always welcome here Well done first post, sharing a picture of a 993 Speedster!
I wish all the best for Butzi, & especially that he's better soon.
With the only 993 born as a Speedster posted above, it's only fitting to follow with this 'new old stock' (NOS) photo of the 993 converted for a famous comedian & Porsche collector at Exclusive / Werks / Special Wishes.
Since starting this thread in March 2009, y'all have filled it with good pix - so could be wrong, but I don't think this photo's ever been posted on RL.
Congratulations to RLer Marc W. for sending me a message to ask if it's the famous 993 Speedster he suspected. Indeed, it is.
Marc: your prize is a gorgeous Freisinger Speedster. ...oh, wait you just got one -- even better
In all seriousness: you have a PM back from me.
This photo's from ~spring 2002. The 993 was parked outside the Los Angeles airport Hilton hotel for the annual Porsche & VW literature show.

From: In front of you and to the left ...
I wasn't there that year .. but I heard about the car being there. When he attends, he usually brings one of his cars and parks it out on the covered drive in front of the Hotel along with many other attendees that drive something special to the event. Last year it was his '94 Turbo 'S' .. Sam C. is usually there as well ... Nice to see it has a 'tone on tone' Classic grey top ;-)

I promised to give you some new pictures this week.
The first step is not completley ready right now. Some small parts for the door-panels are still on it's way. Down allready are the turbo-sport-seats (incl. seat-heating), the black belts, the cover of the rear-side-panles and the hight of the chassis (it was to low).

Marc-- Thanks for the PM, & welcome to our growing RL 993 Speedster group!
We always love photos -- very well done ^^
Your silver has a glorious shine, reminds of Carrera GT paint. The contrasts look great.
I especially love to see each RL Speedster owner personalizing their machines to fit them perfectly.
Good show; looking forward to more updates

Marc-- Thanks ^^
Your shine's perfect ... silver can be challenging to bring out the contrasts in sunlight, & you've done a grand job
Got today's recent PM; please standby for requested info.
In the meantime, these might be helpful:

Likewise, the following words were specially intended for JPP during his 'top secret' Speedster build, but the video might give insight to the interior detail you were looking for:
#565
glass rear window / top, "Porsche 911 - 993 Speedster-Style-Verdeck"
Hope 964 Speedster owners who want parts aren't gritting their teeth & saying, "those darn 993s"
The following may help anyone considering building a 993 (or 964 ) Speedster!
Both on schademobiel.com:
"PORSCHE 993 SPEEDSTER PORTIER" € 900,00.
"PORSCHE 964 / 993 SPEEDSTER HUBS" € 610,00.
No affiliation.

He, you are reading my german Speedster-Thread at carpassion in detail, that's great and thank you!
For everybody else, who wants to know, about we are talking. I hope you don't feel like "forum-rivarly", it's a diffrent language and it's just marketing for that great car. Maybe for rennlist and for example for companys like 9m as well.

How a 993 convertible turns into a 993 SpeedsterS
Funny, two weeks ago I found a picture of that car in the internet as well. Untill that date this 964-based car was unknown for me as well. What do you think, how many unknown 993 Speedtsers are still out there?

It's not a must. This is the picture of the only original one and it even has a narrow body (no turbo-look at all), that's the reason why it has no turbo-bumpers. My be we have to discuse it the other way around, all 993 Speedsters with turbo-bumpers are not original...

The first step is completed, some parts were really easy, other parts took more time than I thought.
Another thing are the rims, first I was a littlebit confused about the size (8 x 18 ET52 and 9.5 x 18 ET 47). The part-number at the spoke-arms belong to the 993 GT2, but they were much wider. The rim-well seems to be original, because "SPEEDLiNE for PORSCHE" is lasered to them, but no normal car had the size 9.5 x 18. The solution ist the 964 CUP-racing-car, they had this rim-wells, Freisinger has fixed the original 993-GT2-spokres to the original 964-CUP-rim-wells. A exciting and probably unique combination.
- I have lifted the chassis (PSS9) about 1.5cm, the chassis was already perfect before, but the optic was to deep.
- The side-panels (with the speakers) in the back were not part of my buy. The problem is, that Porsche can't deliver those Speedster-parts anymore. So I had to buy those from a 993-convertible and adapt them.
- The GT3-seats are to much and to modern for a 993, furthermore the space from the seat to the foot-pedal is to short, no good idea for long trips. After some search I found good black 993-turbo-seats with seat-heating and installed them. That was plug-and-play, because all wires were installed by Freisinger belowe the GT3-seats.
- Good luck was, that even the Nokia-amplifier and all wires were installed as well. Therefore it was child's play to connect the soundsystem in the doors. A problem was the diffrent doors, both had 964-Speedster-part-numbers, the driver-door has 4 of 5 slots for the big door-panels, the co-diver-door hasn't even one. To make it perfect, it took nearly 10 hours.
- A small thing was to change the 964 door-**** with LED to the fixed 993-LED-version. That was plug-and-play, only a jack must be changed.
