ok... interview must take place

then.. find out what car HE arrived in... and then have YOUR fun with your foot...

Well maybe not... but this asswipe needs to be taught a lesson... and you have some powerful info at your disposal

1) his name and address
2) his current employers name
3) his money
4) the phone number of the local constabulary to report the "witnessed" incident.

Should result in some thought provoking discussion...

I can't wait until Monday.

No way you cancel the interview, there is no reason to. For one, you're not 100% it's the same guy, and secondly there is nothing wrong with 'teaching a lesson' to this arsehole.
Just be cool about it, and as mentioned ask some very relevant questions such as "why should I hire you". Perhaps he'll share the story with some of his hooligan arsehole friends and they might think twice before destroying someone's possessions.

I would also let the agency know about this guy. Personally, I would be extremely grateful if I knew a potential candidate was a social deviant and wrecked other people's property.

Cancel the interview in person as the police are escorting him out of your office after arresting him for vandalism.

+1 I would do the same if it was my car.
There needs to be a legal as well as money penalty for this kind of deed. If we all cower in fear of retribution, there will just be more of this.

+100 to all above....make sure you are the last guy he sees...have everyone before you make him think he is in...put him through 2+ hours....then have the last person before you say..."oh there is one more person you should meet...."

most of us would pay alot of money for a moment like this!

Think it through before Monday. The debag deserves to be put on youtube going through the agony of a lengthy interview only to be embarrassed/denied and certainly to get arrested for vandalism. But when I think about how a guy who would do such a thing might react knowing where you work and where you park every day, it might behoove you to plan it well to avoid future headaches. A police report will provide you with some level of assurance that he'll probably stay away (doubt you can get him arrested of get a restraining order now that you've taken compensation for damages). Do it...interivew the guy and put him on youtube but make sure you cover your bases.

Just think if you weren't there to catch this guy. He would still have this interview on Monday with you. And, you may have been impressed enough with him to hire him... Later when he learned it was your car, would he have ever told you? Bet not.

You've already been compensated for the damage so you may not have any more legal claims. However, you should definitely meet with him and not hire him, if only to let him realize how his poor decisions can have lasting consequences. Also I don't think I'd keep quiet about it either with your colleagues in the industry.

In my opinion, I would keep it understated. Let his imagination do the work for you. Let him show up happy and let him see you right off behind the desk. The less you say the better as his own mind will go bad places. By doing this you keep the higher groiund, you don't necessarly look too agressive and make an enemy but just teach a lesson in Karma. You don't want to be looking over your shoulder. You don't really know this guy and he has proven to ve violent.
