Fabspeed Motorsports offers 200 C.P.S.I. German imported catalytic converters for the 1994-1998 993 vehicle. The sport cats are constructed from T304L stainless steel, C.N.C. mandrel bent to provide maximum uninterrupted exhaust flow and velocity. We offer these sportcats for both Bischoff and Gillet platforms, increasing performance by +8HP and saving around 20 lbs. from the rear of the car. Fabspeed also fabricates catbypass pipes for replacing stock catalytic converters or for maximum horsepower applications. Our catbypass pipes increase performance by +12HP and save around 45 lbs. from the rear of the car. We designed and tested a crossover/X-style catbypass system which lost 2.5HP as compared to the Fabspeed straight pipes systems. Therefore, despite what might seem “cool, logical and fashionable,“ you DON’T want an X-pipe on your 993, 996 and other rear engine cars. Reason being, the X-pipe’s bends, as pictured, are so unbelievably tight radius that power was sacrificed as exhaust flow and frictional losses in the pipe were substantial compared to straight pipes.

Can you confirm that the sport cats really weigh 20 lbs less than the stock catalytic converter? I can't believe that this is possible. Or, are you saying that you save 20 lbs by dropping the stock cats and stock muffs in exchange for the sport cats and muffler bypass? Not clear from your post or from your website. Please clarify. Thanks.

It's amazing that you're still trying to peddle this bull****. I have Fabspeed bypass pipes on my car. I weighed the stock cat on a digital scale and it weighs 24 pounds. I didn't weigh your pipes on a scale, but I'd guess they weigh a little under 10 pounds -- let's say 8. That's a 16 pound weight savings, NOT 45. Every other person I know who's weighed the stock cats has come up with a number between 23 and 25 pounds. Where in the world did you come up with 45 pounds? I'd really love to know.

You're dealing with an intelligent audience here, not a bunch of pimply-faced teenagers reading muscle car magazines who'll believe anything.

BTW nice photo of the Dach X-pipes. I personally don't think the X-pipe design is a good one, but really -- could you have made your competitor's product look a little worse?

The x-Pipe in the above picture is not a set of DACH X-pipes....similar in shape, but not.

Here's what I consider for exhaust system weights. These were my feasible alternatives (other combos are too loud), and the total system weights:

OEM cats + muffs + tips = 26+34+3=63
OEM cats + RSRs + tips= 26+19+3=48
Sport cats + RSR's + tips= 16+19+3=38
OEM cats + Supercups = 26+10=36
Cat bypass + RSR's + tips = 7+19+3=29

I hope this helps you guys in choosing parts.

Trust is a very simple equation.

Trust=my interest/your interest.

Post a dyno sheet and pics of your stuff on a scale compared to stock stuff for chrissakes. Your continued refusal to post the aforementioned increases the denominator in the above equation which removes trust.

With all that being said I have some Fabspeed stuff on my 993 and it's very well made and sounds great. However, the best way to take weight of of my car is for me to go to the gym, not the "jim beam". If you proved all of the above your sales would go through the roof.

I agree with all here. Furthermore, if your assumpitons/facts/calculations that lead you to the information you've stated were wrong then simply tell us with an explanation as to where you were off...we've all made these mistakes before! IMHO, you would gain far more credibility with me as a potential customer instead of making claims and then failing to investigate our questions/concerns.

Also, I couldn't help but notice second "R" of the "RSR" seems off a bit...might just be the angle though...

My cat is laying on the floor in my garage and I will weigh it tonight when I get home. Unfortunately I already installed the Fabspeed cat bypass and reinstalled the stock mufflers. There is also a significant weight savings using their Supercup mufflers over the stock 993. I still have those, but my stock mufflers have already been installed. Stay tuned....

Think twice before you ask Fabspeed to post dyno sheets. Got kinda ugly last time they did that.
