It's the Internet. Don't like it? Start your own. Do it better and in a week we'll all be there.

You can't sell users.

If you want to sell your forking cousins wheels, your grandmothers wheels, your sisters wheels, YOUR forkin' wheels - at least pay a WHOPPING $17.95. With over 55,000 other users - they do.

Some quick math.. maybe ~ $1M a year in revenue? I wonder what a buyout at that revenue for this business/market looks like.

Good for John/Jen though, it's definitely tough and if you can make money and have fun at the same time, good for you!

yes...agreed...congrats Jen and John! You must be very very excited. I'm hopin to see RL grow bigger and faster as a result, not that it hasn't in the past! I hope the buyer really made it worthwhile for you too. Now...go take a long vacation and relax.

Best,
J

Yeah, I read the announcement this afternoon when John posted it.

I'm glad for John and Jen, they deserve it for all the hard work they have put into it.

I just hope that Rennlist doesn't suffer the same fate that Audiworld did when Jet sold it to this corporation. Not that it was all bad, just not the same.

What a bunch of BS!

Someone came along and waved a boatload of cash in their face, and they went for it. That's it. I can't say I would do it different.

But all this... We see the website going here and there...we care...is laughable. BLA BLA BLA!

We'll see. If it turns into crap, we'll just go somewhere else.

Yeah, Congrats to John and Jen. They deserve at the end of the day a good pay out. Project Rennwish is a great cause and I bet they have their hands full.

As for the corporation deal, I have been through a couple of takeovers from corporations in my time and both were not really pretty... Yeah more resources etc, but at the end of the day the personal touch is always lost in the numbers and the bottom line.
At the end of the day its up to us to keep Rennlist and its spirit alive, no matter what the corporate bean counters have in store.
In a way its sad, its the end of an era.
Good luck to John and Jen who forever I will be grateful.

Congratulations and good for them!!!!

They worked hard - they deserve every reward coming to them.

Change will always have its detractors - but lets see how it goes before we all commit Hari Kari??

The old guard is leaving - the sky is falling in - they are putting WATER in 911's now!

AAAARRRGHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The more things change - the more things stay the same.

Despite some incredible cynical comments from folks who know little about Rennlist, PorscheList and PorscheFans, I'd offer my heartiest congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Dunkel for the past 10 years of their time, sacrificed vacations, headaches, potential ulcers and a LOT of money spent to develop and fund Rennlist LONG before it was a going venture.

Having been here since 1996, I think you've earned some time off and the chance to help develop this community find its real potential,...

Well Done!!!!

The stewardship, effort, and vision that John and Jen ( and the Moderators) have invested in developing this community is beyond being merely commendable: it is a task well done ... and no great surprise that continued success has moved the 'List beyond the home/weekend office scale, into the hands of new owners.

For those concerned about change - the spirit, direction, and content of Rennlist remains largely in the hands ( or keyboards) of the active Membership: it will hold status quo, or evolve as we wish it to do so by our participation.
