I ordered a replacement through Sunset earlier this year - I think it was less than $20.

These tubes seem to go soft and eventually fail over the years. Several of the cars that I have worked on either had tubes that should be thrown out or ones with small leaks. On one car, I did not notice the small leak and filled up the Mobile 1...over a litre ended up on the floor. It took me another 30 minutes to clean up the mess and degrease the engine...so I check very carefully now!

Cheers,

Mike

For routine oil changes the collapsible neck is useless - just use a nice long funnel. However, after thinking about it, they would be nice for on-the-road-top-up's. I might order a new one from Sunset...

I ordered one not too long ago, it had to be shipped over from Germany so it took a few weeks.

The part # is 993-207-363-50 and is an OEM part. Porsche calls it a "Bellows".

I always wondered where the disintegrated pieces of mine went? I don't know that I would replace it.

When I found mine had begun to disinigrate I yanked it out and now use a nice long funnel to add oil, no mess, no regrets for not replacing it.

As far as adding oil on a trip, I have always topped up before starting and have never driven far enough to use a quart. Considering the avg 993 burns approx. 1qt every 4-5K I could go round trip from San Diego to New York before having to add one.

I use mine every time I add oil. It seems to work very well, and I don't use a funnel.

Default Bellows?

I am with you on the use of the oil fill extender (bellows). I will order and install a new one just in case. The replacement price is cheap compared to the fragments in the motor. Thanks guys!

This neck is useless since when it is more than half full with oil, the oil starts leaking out at the bottom. Regular funnel (or even nothing) is better. I pulled the neck out about ten years ago and put it into a storage box. I just went to check and it is like new.

If you over-extend it, I guess, it will leak. I don't pull it out until it is tight, and perhaps that is why some people find it leaks. It is basically a telescoping bellows, so if there is enough overlap, I don't see how it can leak unless it is cracked.
That said, if you are happy using a funnel, there is your answer.

Schtuck in your filter (appropriately) or lying in the bottom of the tank. Interesting that Porsche never issued a TSB on this since it does introduce undesirable foreign material into the critical oil system.
