I too have a bone stock 1995 c4 - except for the radio - anyone have an old cr-1 for sale?

As you can tell, I like the stock (and feel it drives better resale to a certain segment of the population).

I don't mind a few tasteful mods, especially if it's OEM and was an option. I wouldn't hold it against anyone to go with Bilsteins and euro sport height as it just doesn't make any sense (to me) to keep changing out crappy shocks and have the rally car ride height. I won't have anything that looks out of place, though, such as aftermarket stereos/amps/CD changers and non-OEM body panels and assorted do-dads. Any mods should also be fairly easy to reverse completely and I keep the original pieces in the attic.

I too like my 993 as close to stock as possible. I've replaced many small (and not so small) items over the last two years because time takes it's toll on the car. While it was very clean when I purchased it, it's much more so now. My only deviations from bone stock are:

18" turbo twist wheels
Perfect Power strut tower brace
Steering rack brace
M030 coils
Bilstein HD shocks
RS shift ****/boot
RS shift rod
Tequipment aluminum/leather handbrake
Motorsound lid
Turbo S brake ducts

I do not have enough time today to list all of the items I've refreshed/replaced

Andreas

Andreas - I still want to see your carand look at the ride height some time. Any PCA events coming up in your neck of the woods?

Marlon,
We're about to move, so I'm putting any fun stuff on the back burner for a while. On the other hand, I'm always up for a quick meet & greet if we can figure out a time and place.

imho: a nice compromise on aesthetically correct ride height would be to go mo33... will still be soft/comfortable but look correct & not suv.

http://69.74.45.24/main.htm (gert) i agree leavin' one stock is a nice idea.

I like my MO33 with HDs. Now and then I think about 030s, but its a rattley semi-flexy Targa. Maybe if it was a coupe. .

I like keeping things mostly stock, not for any philisophical reason, nor because I'm concerned with resale value, but because I like the way stock looks - with the exception of the US ride height. In my mind, RoW M030 is not "stock" to my car, but it is the way many 993s left the factory. My 18" Technology wheels are not stock either, but they are 993 wheels.

Other than the shifter, I think the interior cannot be improved upon. I don't like carbon fiber, shiny trim, white guages, metal pedals or any of that. As for the exterior, I don't mind the bumper guards, and I'm not gonna spend thousands on a turbo front bumper cover or body panels. I even prefer to keep the supposedly crappy headlights because I cannot stand the blue-ish HIDs - they look out of place, too "new."

Having said all that, I've seen some badass highly modded 993s, and they can be awesome. But for me and my DD, it's mostly stock.

How about the obverse: SUV (I prefer 'rally car look') height and springs + HD's??? For me it get's down to butt-height-off-the-ground and that corresponds to suspension travel as well. I just don;t think it's going to handle much more thrillingly during my 1 hour commute each day if I lower it - just puts my face closer to the license plate height of the next honda odyssey. On the weekends I'm driving my real SUV unless my wife & I run to the DQ in the evening.

Cactus - Andreas - lets meet for a beer sometime.

Maybe there's an event up your way and I can drive up...I'd love to trade notes. I especially want to see the HID's - my lights totally suck for such a cool looking factory setup.

One of you guys go ahead and pop on some RSR's and the other LPMM's to help me decide

Marlon,
I'm enjoying a cold one as type this.

My 993 also has the factory Litronics - I think they are a nice bonus over the regular halogen headlights.

I am having a big "pay more for tastefully modded to the max 993TT" versus "bone stock 993TT for far less $$ and maybe mod it if and when I want to" moment.

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-turbo-forum/369567-how-would-you-prefer-to-mod-a-stock-993tt.html

I don't know what to do....

1)in the modded 993TT, I am not sure I would ever know enough about it to mod to that level of detail.

2)if I were to mod that much, though, it would be a big price break and much less hassle to get one that's all paid for and sorted out.

3) Isn't it more meaningful to mod it myself, grounds up?

4) How much should mods affect the price?
