Heretic: keep my car stock!?
Guys - I know this will land hard on some of you, but since my little 95' sparsely optioned 993 is bone, bone stock I am going to plow new ground and elect (at this time) to keep it 100% bone original as I go thru it and fix it up (plug wires, suspension, everthing). If at some point I elect to sell it, the new owner can do with it what they like. Someday soon, it may be one of the few remaining 1st year 993's that retains 100% originality. Right now I am running 18" factory twists, but I have the original 16" rims (with tires) that came with it.
Options: roof, cruise, AM/FM stereo.
My first 911 was a 1975 911S - bright yellow with no roof and rollup windows and 100% original. I have regretted selling that simple little car now for many years. Maybe I can make it up to myself with this simple little car and keep it original too.
Thoughts!

I am of the school of thought that, "even the best design can be improved upon", but if it makes you happy in stock trim, then so be it. Mods may not add much value, but neither will they subtract much, if they are tastefully done. If you have the space, you could always limit yourself to easily reversible mods and save the OEM parts. Life is short, so do what ever makes you happy!

I have two CD-210s that each have problems. I may be able to put them to gether into one mint stock unit. Let me piece the 2 together and see if I can come up with a great shape one for you.

cool on the radio - yes, easily reversible mods are ok and desired! But I may consider selling my twists & P-zeros and just DD on the 16's. The car handles like a slot car with the 18's though and is really pretty good on the deriere. Of course, my worn out shocks might be contributing the soft irde:^)

I see issues on the LWF - stalling, etc. How come Dr Porsche did not put an LWF in it - or even a MedWF for that matter. Realize less rotating mass is significant, but for a DD????

LWF is easily reversible but does affect driveability and it makes the gearbox loud. That's one that the factory did right for an upscale sports/GT car IMO.
If all-original floats your boat, by all means do it that way. The matching-numbers, preserved-window-sticker, restored-paint-daubs & original-colored-shock crowd has fun in a way that I don't understand but that doesn't mean it's not a good thing for you.

I'm keeping mine as stock as possible. Even replaced my speakers with the crappy OEM Nokia speakers (they were cheap enough). Its like living in a time capsule. Reliving my single days when I had more hair and less around the waist! The only upgrade I've made is get bumper plugs and a stock Porsche CD player.

My first 911 I wanted to upgrade everything. The second one had only 2 'upgrades' - new shifter and supercups from the first car. The second time around I just wanted a simple clean 993. Since it wasn't a garage queen I didn't mind the 10 year old patina.

Marlon, its your car, enjoy it the way you want to. If that's bone stock than its bone stock. The cars are great right from the factory. Besides, how much bigger a speeding ticket you want anyway? Good luck with it and enjoy.

My 1996 C4 is completely stock except for an aluminum/leather shifter and
brake handle. Both of those are Porsche Tequipement Accessories. My friends
don't call me origin-AL for nothing.
Oops forgot the motorsound airbox lid...
Enjoy your car in the way you see fit. There are others on this board who
approach this with a similar philosophy.

I went through that very addictive phase of modifying with an 03 BMW M5. Put over $40k in Dinan modifications as well as everything else imaginable. I "planned" to keep it forever, but I got the Porsche bug again.
I sold it with 15,000 miles shortly after I bought the C4S for not more than $5k if I left it stock. I bought the C4s well factory optioned, so I only planned to add the RoW M030 suspension package from Gert.
If you do heavily modify it, plan to either enjoy for a very long time or plan to take a big $$ lose when you sell it.
Just my two-cents.
