are 993's hand made?

As far as I know, the German workers who manned the machines that made our machines had hands.
Also, the workers who assembled portions of the car, by hand, had hands.
As Porsche is an equal opportunity employer, they may have hired someone who did not have hands. Would that then mean that the car was not "hand-made"?

Did you guys hear Gretel died shortly after Hansel. It was really sad, she used to clear coat the cars that Hans built. Porsche replaced Gretel with a MACHINE! Go figure.

I know for a fact that there was at least one hungarian midget working at the assembly line. He was the one that installed the Cab controller underneath the dash. He was later promoted to install spark plug #12 on each hand made engine.

Man, you guys are a trip. Glad I'm not a noobie wanting the specific answer to the original question.
I don't feel like searching, but I'm guessing, our cars aren't quite as handmade as the Porsche posters in my garage suggest?
Wait, forget it... I'm not sure I can take any more RL sarcasm after the day I've just had .
So... I never posted this ... carry on with the jokes.

Does "hand-made" mean that only one hand was used? Wouldn't this be very difficult to do? I can't even eat with just one hand! What if you use both of your hands? Or if it was one or both of your hands along with a few pairs belonging to co-workers?

Steve - 1978 posts!! - you knew you were going to get "the good, the bad and the ugly" (and all flavors of popcorn since Orville)! And you know, Orville work on the assembly line until 1997 (I believe Excellence was Expected has him torqueing lug nuts) .....
Then he invented emoticons!!! and the rest is history!
What would we RL's do without him.
Are you sure you didn't mean, hand-maid-ens? u know alot of us 993 owners have plenty of "Handmaidens in Germany"!

I don't care if Grandma is doing the building or a robot. All I know is that these Porsches have incredibly high build quality.

Well, when I last toured the factory about 3 yrs. ago, they were making 997's by then. The only robots I saw were for installing the windshields. Oh, and there were the amazing little R2D2-like droids running around the factory floor delivering engine parts to the guys who assembled them. All the engine assembly was certainly done by hand. I saw it. I saw pallets of trannies too. And the Recaro seats were preloaded to arrive at the front of the stack when the car they belonged in got to that part of the assembly line. So, I'd imagine there was plenty less automation back when 993's were still in production.
