I believe that 5800K is the factory color, I would have to double check mine, but I made a point to match it with the factory and I am very happy with the result.

I actually heard that 4500k is the closest to factory but does it really matter? My 4500k are really white and look great. They are very similar to my X5 Xenons and way better than what the 993 had.

Isn't progress amazing? This time last year the hot ticket in HIDs was a ~$250 kit from Vertex with a kludgy installation. Now, for <$100, you get an invisible and 100% reversible solution.

Installed, quick, only mod was with a Dremel....Wow what a difference, thanks everybody especially Patrick. Very useful, painless, inexpensive upgrade.

Hi all

I read through this long thread with a great deal of interest, having been pointed here by the good folk on 911uk.com.

Looking at the last posted links, the units seem quite large, so before I go ahead and buy a kit from the US, can someone please recommend the best quality kit that will fit inside the headlight housing?

In the UK, these kits cost around $300 to $400 equivalent, but none that I have found links to seem to have the slim ballasts mentioned and pictured in the earlier posts.

Best Regards to all

Tim

Tim, I bought the same ones that CarreraX bought. He encouraged me that they would fit in the housings and they do. Earlier in this message string (somewhere before page 5, I think) there is a picture or a link to a post with this large ballast installed. It does fit and just requires a little creative wrapping of the wires around the inside. They look great.

One thing I would prefer though - the lowest temperature they had was 5000K. I think they are a little bluer then I would like, although many seem to like even 6000K. 4300 is factory and must be the same for Audi and BMW - I passed several tonight and their color looked a little lower than mine (mine looked slightly bluer). I'm happy, though.

Go to www.cqlights.ca. They have the slim ballasts. I put those on my bike and in the wife's Mini. Very satisfied and great price that includes shipping.

Tim, I've just purchased a set from www.aceparts.com for £125 inclusive.
The service was excellent, however it's wise to tell them that you have a 993 so that you receive the correct kit.

Thanks to this wonderful forum/thread I've done the install in 30 mins.

Good Luck

Andy
