can you imagine an RS weight 993 with this engine? That would be incredible!
Who needs a GT3 when you can have its performance with the incredible looks of a 993?

Erm, surprisingly enough, yes I can, I raced my 1165kg 993RSCS with the 3.8 litre version of the engine last year, proving fast enough to beat a modified GT3RS on every outing including the incredibly fast Goodwood circuit (88.9 sec lap from a standing start) but this year I will be fitting the 4.0 litre engine with a additional 85Nm and 30hp. I can't wait!

Here's a couple of shots of the car, last year on an airfield test and also from 2004 at the Longleat hillclimb.

Umm... can I have your old engine when you're done with it?

Unfortunately the other engine was based on my number matching crankcase, so it has now been stripped so that I cam put it back to original spec for that day when the car is restored back to original condition (who am I trying to kid?). The crank was stock so this is being re-used, the rods are available but the B&P set are going into the 4.0 litre. The production heads (with logo's Geoffrey) have been re-allocated to another project so the only other parts going are the standard lift race cams, springs and retainers. The intake system and Motec M48 was borrowed from a friends' modified 964RS and this is now back with the rightful owner. So not much left really, sorry!

Believe it or not, the car is actually running bone stock 993RS suspension, hence why it wags at the spectators on a regular basis. I did upgrade the brakes with some 355mm discs with AP 6 pots up front and a 993 Cup ABS ecu, but other than this the chassis handles the 400+hp without any problems. I have thought about changing the shocks and have a set of JRZ double adjustables in the shop, but because I use the car on narrow hillclimb courses I am reluctant to change to a set up that I continually have to adjust as I just do not have the time at the events to make meaningful changes.

Thanks David. I guess the fact that we are all dedicated Petrolheads helps to further the cause more than otherwise would make sense. It is funny though, because 3 years ago before the first heads were made we were discussing a 400hp 3.8 engine, then managed to squeeze 425 or so from the second prototype heads. Then 12 months ago we talked about an 80mm stroker crank to convert the engine to 4.0 litres and the possibility of 450hp seemed unlikely. Now the talk is of another mm or two on the stroke and larger intake ports with revised cams to see if 500hp is possible. Slippery slope indeed.

"Now the talk is of another mm or two on the stroke and larger intake ports with revised cams to see if 500hp is possible" The bar keeps going up. Interesting...

The idea of someday being able to convert my NA to close to 500hp is like a dream...
