Question Ninemeister Cylinder Heads

Any RL'er upgrade their NA car with any of these components? Inquiring minds want to know. Ads sound impressive...350hp and no forced induction.

Rennlister 'Geoffrey' of Racetek Engineering I believe is going to be selling them. PM him.

Search and you will find... At least one Rennlister has. Do a search on 9M heads and that should take you straight there.

Cheers,

David

I've done the search and can't find David - probably me being useless.

All I can find is various discussions between Colin et al?

I have a set of the cylinder heads and have flow tested them and have data from 964, well ported 964, 993, and 993RSR heads I've done it the past. The velocity of the ports is impressive. More impressive though are the results on the dyno and on the track.

Can you provide more details?

The 9M port design is constructed to provide maximum velocity of the incomming air charge which promotes cylinder filling. Rather than hog out the ports to their maximum size (993RSR for example) they are standard 964 41mm port size. The ports themselves are very straight compared with a normal Porsche head which helps to keep the air speed up (velocity) because as you turn the air it slows down. This design provides more efficient cylinder filling which means your volumetric efficiency and therefore torque will be increased. The short of it is that an increase in velocity fills the cylinder at a higher rate than increasing the size of the port. Colin can go into more detail about the engineering of the port, but I think it has been covered well in the past and in the Total 911 magazine articles.

The ports are only one benefit of the head. The others are the Billit vs cast construction, stronger cylinder to head mating surface to prevent head lifting/bending. Smaller and more optimized chamber design to restore compression to Porsche advertised compression and to provide a better piston to head clearance and optimized squish area.

When will these become ready to be fitted to cars in California?

I sent a US 993 head to 9M to incorporate the SAI port in the head. My understanding is that they have the engineering complete and have the ability to machine the heads accordingly. So, they are available with or without the SAI port.

If it isn't gauche to inquire, what is a ballpark figure of the cost for the heads? What else would need to be changed at time of install(remap DME)? Any estimate of what labor for install might be? I'm trying to understand what the total conversion would entail mechanically and in terms of price.
Thanks,
Mark

I don't think anyone has installed the 9M heads in the USA yet, and I think it's because of the difficulty in finding somebody who can do a live remap of our ECU.

I've just recently (as-in this week) added MY95 non-OBD2 support to my motronic editing software so for someone with remapping experience (i.e. Geoffrey) it's theoretically possible (i just have to actually get him a copy of the software to see what he thinks ) and I still have to test the live sensor data support for the 993 (TPS, MAF, CHT, IAT, OIL). I don't have an OBD2 based control unit so for the time being I can't do anything for those model years.
