That kit used to cost about 10000 DM in Germany in 1998, now the price is double.

Don't waste your money. Very little gain. Lots of money and potential issues. I try to talk people out of it. If you want to spend money, buy a turbo....

I have an original 993 3.8 RS engine. It has about 20K miles on it.

I will let it go for about $30k.

Sell your engine for $6k and you would be money ahead.

You can pick up brand new 3.8 long blocks for around 20K

The 3.8 RS longblock is only a small part of what makes them special,....

That big-runner magnesium Varioram intake manifold is a big part of the overall result when one wants the real thing.

Joe's offer is very good as I've personally seen it run, both in the car and on the dyno,....

Aside from that, I'd simply take your 3.6, add the 102mm P/C's, RS cams, matching software, and you'll be happy. Close-ratio gears really finishes that off very nicely.

Agree, having run a couple of 3.8 in recent years, not over impressive, expensive to tune and friends with a decent remap on the 3.6 have the same kind of power....

If you can persuade Red Rooster to do the remap for you, rather than go 3.8 we would fit a head/cam/cat package, that combined with intake system tweeks is easily making an extra 60-70hp (up from 280 to 350hp & 430Nm) on our dyno with a typical 3.6 varioram. Going up to 3.8 with our 102mm 12:1 P&C kit ramps the torque up to 450Nm and finds another 5-10hp.

Will,
My take on the 3.8 is that you are getting another 146 cc from the motor. Thats 4% ! The Euro 3.8RS with RS cams etc makes 5% more bhp than a 3.6 Vario.
Guess I could think of better ways to spend $20-30K to get 15bhp !!!

But if 3.8 is your thing , go for it !!!

Colin: I have heard lots of good things about your heads. How much are the parts in the package and how many hours do you charge to build the motor up?
