LPMM =
I did the LPMM mod today. I bought a 2 foot section of T304 from Burns Stainless in Costa Mesa and got it welded in Burbank this afternoon. I haven't had a chance to really open her up yet so I haven't heard enough for a full review yet. At startup it is definitely louder and has a low grumble. All through the rev range the sound is deeper. I'll report back after a full day of driving and winding the motor out with warm oil!!!
I have a line on some RSRs and if they become available, will likely buy them so that I can compare and contrast and decide once and for all which way to go. I've checked off another one of my long list of mods/repair items, namely Make Car Louder!
Thanks Leland!

Thanks for sharing, I am in the exact same situation, still running stock exhaust but getting anxious to make some noise . I am looking forward to your full evaluation and comparison. Thanks again.

I think it really depends. I got one quote from a fabrication shop of $130+ per muffler. I'm sure this would have been a top notch job - TIG welded etc. I paid only $75 for both. I figure there should be little or not stress on the weld so hopefully it should be okay in the long run.

Hi Aaron,
It mainly bypasses the muffler! The exhaust gases have a much less restricted route to the outside world due to the option of going round the muffler or across the pipe and hence free-er gasflow and more noise.
Cheers,
David

Got it - makes all the sense in the world. I forgot that input and output are on the same side of a 993 muffler. Having said that, has anyone just literally bypassed the muffler and run an elbow and tip right off the end of each side of the cat?

Although it sounded great, it was not for everyday use. After about 1/2 an hour of driving, the sound was just "overwhelming".

I think I remember on LP's original thread about using 1 1/2" pipe vs 2" for the crossover but have read nothing else on it. What did you use?
I have the stock exhaust and adding the LPMM would be a lot cheaper than replacing both mufflers w/ sport muffs.

Father it would be great if you do the LPMM vs RSR comparison with sound clips. I know many of us would like to hear the difference.
I'm running RSR's. Yesterday while driving down the highway (around 4k RPM's) I passed by a tricked out M3 with aftermarket exhaust. The guy quickly caught up to me and with a huge grin on his face, pointed to his ears and then gave me a very enthusiastic
Thanks Robin and Leland for making our cars sound like they should!!
