I have a friend who brings his '87 911 Turbo there and seems to trust them. They do a lot of work on p-cars so they should know their stuff

No first-hand experience, however.

The seller insist on a ppi at the local porsche dealer, downtown fine cars, which I dont trust:

do u guys know:

There is another Porsche speciality shop near Avenue Road on Davenport. I can't remember their name, but they are centrally located and more convenient for me.

Gtek is rated highly by many.
I've been there, they are good.

However, Autowerks (in woodbridge) is arguably
the cream of the crop. They are my first choice.

Both would do a good job, that you can trust.

ummm, you could probably post this inquiry on our canada board and get some STRONG opinions.

I have never had any service there, and I don't plan to,
because Gtek and especially Autowerks will give
you PROPER service. Others on the board have
had VERY BAD experiences with DFC service.
I'm sure some people have had great service too,
so you'll just have to roll the dice and decide.

good luck pal!

With a 993 DFC will probably be fine though I wouldn't take anything older than a 993 there. I've not heard a lot of good about Gtek, but have had no personal experience. Weltmeister Autowerk is on Dupont just west of Ave Road. Dennis at Autotech is great but is up on Steeles by the Ferrari dealership, as is Henry at Refined Motorsports in the west end. A lot of opinions are based on personal preference but any of them that have been around for a while would probably be fine - you just don't want it inspected anywhere that the seller has a close personal relationship with, and the dealer is probably as impartial as anyone else, and you can always talk to the sevice manager to make sure they look closely at anything that you're particularly concerned about.

I had the PPI on my 993 done at Downtown Fine Cars.
They missed a lot! I am not sure why. Rushed it through? Incompetance? On the take??
I used G-Tek for an oil change/service shortly after purchase. Satisfactory work; plus the mechanic (owner?) spent some time explaining and showing me a few things about my 'new' car.
Good luck,
max

Might want to consider Mantis Racing in oakville. They specialize in Porsches and will not do anything that is not needed. Ernie the owner and his team modified and raced the first Cayman in Porsche club racing this year and won in that class. There is a fine article in the most recent Panorama issue this month about Mantis. Mantis is well respected in the upper PCA region 1.

Avoid Pfaff at all costs...they are a bunch of idiots. They missed multiple items on my 993 during the PPI and I trusted them. Normally I would check my own car but its hard when you have to fly to see it. I only found their mistakes after I shipped the car to Vancouver. They told me too bad when I brought it up.

Cheers,

Mike
