Default 959

I saw a 959 for the first time a few weeks ago...it was like seeing a ghost or something. I just stood there looking at it in a daze.
It was in a showroom on Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills near the corner of Doheny. I am not sure if it is still there. I see Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc all the time in my neighborhood...and they are all really cool, but no BIG deal. That 959 just left me speechless.

That is definitely a car with charisma! I know they were certifying and refurbishing 959s nearby in Santa Cruz, CA. I probably should head over to take a look one of these days if they are still at it.

Default p / dkr

I must be the only person who really doesn't like the look of the 959... Although the offroad P / Dkr version is kinda cool.

Funny the 959 is getting AC work done. Must be blown evaporator core!

How come 959 does not get a rennlist board? Dont the guys that own them do any DIY work or have tire questions?

yep you definitely are

I once saw one at an autocross here in so cal. It was the very last one off the assembly line. it had 3200 miles on it. thats right miles! it was the only U.S. spec 959 that stayed in the U.S. formally owned by the owner of the L.A. times. I was awestruck.

I guess there isn't a large enough owner base to require a rennlist board. They made maybe 200 for street use?

You're not the only one. I don't like the look of it either. The car came out at around the same time as the F-40. Now that's charismatic!

Yeah now the F40, there's a car.. The image of the Carbon/Kevlar body panels is still burned in my mind. As a kid I remember being blown away that the car was made of fabric. Now on the Porsche front I think the GT1 pre Boxster headlights is a work of art...

It's now in Scotts Valley. Take a look at the showroom, they have some really cool stuff in there.

No, you're not. I'm not too crazy about it either and don't think the design has aged well. One of the other Gruppe B giants, the Ferrari 288 GTO, has, IMHO, withstood the test of time better than the 959.

When I saw my first 959 at the Parade in Hershey this year, I just wasn't feeling the love.

A rolling, red orgy of one:

To be honest, the 288GTO and F40 are still my favorites. They have a 'presence' that no other car can match (F40 especially). Of all the supercars, the F40 will always be the pinnacle.

I've seen both the 288GTO and the F-40 in the flesh and F-40 wins hands down. It has cleaner looks and looks a lot aggressive - a true supercar.

Well Vive La Difference (Help him! He spoke French!). But if I could have any car in my garage it would be a 959. I don't think it is the prettiest car by any means, but in terms of sheer presence it gets my vote. I think it defines exotic.

I never liked it; it looks like a bad body-kit was bolted onto a 993:

The 'running boards' look comical.
