Its the technology inside the 959 that wins me over, no so much the looks. Funny how many styling cues are found in the 993 from the 959.

The large pool of liquid beneath is the drool (or perhaps other bodily fluids) from its many admirers.

It's called an opinion... That's the O part of IMHO. People start using these acronynms and forget what they mean.

The 959 was one of the few cars I really think it was "ahead of it's time".

There is more "Porsche" in that car than many of you think.

When I lived in LA many years ago I drove past Vasek Polak a lot. I thought about the amazing Porsches he owned and raced, but knowing he had two 959's ....gave me pause.

for as muh as I love my car I am glad Porsche built the 959. Wait I'm even glad the built the 914's and 924's and 944's and any other product that made profits for the company. It helped them stay in business and build the most beautiful Porsche ever the 993. I LOVE MY CAR. Oh yeah I think the 959 was good looking car. The F-40 is too italian, boy racer to me.

Don't get me wrong, the 959 is right up there for me, but the F40 has always been the standard. If I were in a position to have an exotic car collection, I would have one of each, with the 959 coming a close second!

My mechanic here in Zurich has 2, a red one and a white one - the red on has done less than 2 thousand km's, but the white gets used all the time. i was talking to his wife and she said "its fun, but i dont like it when he goes above 180 mph"

i see the 959 as the 'father' of my 993tt as it led to the 993tt development in many ways. The 959 is ugly - IMHO- especially with the wide rear that really wasnt well designed but a poor body kit put on a 911 shell.

The 959 is fascinating in the technology it represented AT THE TIME (1985) and for that it really is a masterpiece. I dont think its so great to drive as its said to be very soft and the geometry not so great. Performance of a 993tt would certainly exceed it in almost every way. So, for me, while it would be cool to own one, i dont think id crack my piggy bank open for the 'collectable premium'. I would think an F40 would be a much more wild ride on a track.

But, if i was a car collector, then, "whats not to like??"
