The 959 is by far my all time favorite car. If one ever parks next to me and I have my camera, I'll have a new avitar. There is one for sale in the U.S. here.

"Here is a good article about the modern modifications Canepa is doing to the cars."

A real "abortion"/Mickey Mouse job since they couldn't setup the Bosch OEM DME
to pass the emissions. It would have been a simple process to utilize the OEM
system and still pass the emissions for most that understand the Bosch DME.
The solution required minor DME circuitry changes and an EPROM mod.

Now, those that had the "abortion" done no longer have a true original classic.
Almost kinda like those that install a Chevy in a Porsche or think they can do
better body design than Porsche. Nice work NoCal guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always great to read your positive comments.

Have fun!

If you have enough money for a 959 do you really care if it's street legal? Strap some plates from another car on it and drive the bastard..

I briefly considered buying and contacted Canepa, his mod's are very expensive:

Engine Conversion - $95K
Service Upgrades - $15K
Suspension Upgrade - $25K

Approaching the cost of the car itself.

I saw a 959 for the ist time a year ago when i was in LA (Beverly Hills i think) at a used car dealer that only delt in high end rare cars. I took lots of pics the car was like a seal gray. I stared in awe when i saw it for a very long time, everything about it screamed super porsche.

That thing was amazing. I think they are beautiful, I just whish i could have herd the engine run.

Yes the F40s are cool and fast but they are not as ahead of their time as the 959s were. Also the 959 is much sleeker and smmoth of a look where the f40 like the other Italians of that era look more like space ships. I know if i had the money i would put one in my garage.

Actually, I agree 100% with his comments. These cars are now completely unoriginal! They don't just change the ECU, they swap out the turbos, and modify the suspension too? The high value of these cars is not because of their ultimate performance - you can modify a 993TT to be faster than a 959. Their value is the history. This is a hack job on a true classic, regardless of the increase in performance. In my opinion, that is.

As has been said before - if you can afford to buy the car, you can afford the risk of driving on U.S. streets without registration. Hell, I've driven on the street without tags before it's not like the space-time continuum will be disrupted because you don't have a tag on your car for Christ's sake.

I have to agree with Lorenfb. There are way too many changes going on here for such a legendary car. Removing the sequential turbos, wiring harness?? One thing that I'm unclear on though, if you have them convert a car do you get all the old parts that were replaced? If what they're doing can be reversed in the future I guess that would be okay. I would for sure demand all those parts that were taken off the car.

Any time you see a 911 for sale with a V6, the car is instantly a junker and not worth considering - Because anyone dumb enough to buy a Porsche and not know something that basic about the car, surely doesn't know to treat the car any differently than a Dodge Neon.

The fact that this is a 959 is the ultimate show of stupidity.

Does seem as though Porsche was impressed by by the 959/961.
We keep seeing it over and over again. This is a good thing.

Default 959 2 Million Dollars

Found this when going through some old magazines. It is from the Du Pont Registry (December 1994 edition). This might have been at the height of a spectulative market??? Anyone know the whereabouts of this vehicle now?

I thought I saw one for sale in Excellence this month for $250k or $350k, US street legal... it was a large full page ad I think.

In any case, it's always been one of my faves too. I was in Porsche heaven when I saw this car at Hershey...

You guys don't think this car is hot? Wow... I sure do. Different strokes, I guess. I'm just surprised some of you guys don't like this car much. To me, it's like looking at a 993 and saying "Ehhh, it's not for me."

The design of the 959 is discussable indeed - however I like it.
I consider the 961 to be beautiful, a maester piece that was 20 years ahead. The design of the 961 IMO is what the 959 should have been.
