Default Possible '97 targa available

It appears a low miles '97 Black on Black targa may be available in the Richmond, VA area. < 30k miles.. I'll find out more details later..

What sort of Premium does a targa bring over coupes...

That price is nuts. There's a 96 Turbo on autotrader for $2500 less. Double the miles, but still...

I'm not sure but I don't think there is a price premium.

I always wanted a Targa but in my limited research found they don't age as well as a coupe. Lot's of moving parts, etc. Given that was the first generation 'sliding glass' roof, perhaps it's to be expected. Maybe a small premium but that price seems excessive.

BTW, I was referring only to the 993 Targas 'not aging as well', I don't know about past models.

the targa is great concept, but the implementation has always seemed to come up a little short.

Don't think so, the design works well. Solves one problem of the older targa's, leaks.

Maybe I have the one good targa

Exclusivity comes at a price. Both in costs to get into the club, and to stay there (if you do have a problem).
Zero problems here, so there must be at least two good targas out there.

Here is one for 54k. I love the color!

Although I was joking about natural air conditioning yesterday, I do have the impression that there's a price premium here in the UK of about $2K. I'm not sure why, but it's possibly to do with the greater exclusivity (I think the ratio to coupes is about 1:10) and the probability of a lower handling stress? I'm guessing that buyers of targas don't cane the cars as much as buyers of coupes? I've certainly had no problems with the sliding roof on mine, though the previous owner had broken the sliding link on the inner blind (repaired before I bought it).

So that's at least 3 Targas without problems! I'm very happy with mine.

I've owned a 96 targa for a year now, no leaks, and it's never malfunctioned.
it leaked oil from chain covers and valve covers that I had to fix :-)) but the top, never....

There was only 1200 targas made (1995 - 1998) verses 24,041 total 993s

993 targa tip

i will likely market my targa later this month.
it has been trouble-free.
thought i would attach my earlier post to this thread.
i had kept that thread closed to avoid squabbling with self appointed pricing consultants
thanks , john.
