Would that make her a leaky dick? Sounds painful, but probably involved a lot of fun to wind up in that condition. Funny, that sounds a lot like 996 ownership.

Now, before you 993 owners get on your high horse about the RMS issue, just know that Porsche did this on purpose. The 993s leak from various locations. For the 996, they just improved efficiency so that all of the oil leaks are consolidated to the RMS, which is much more environmentally friendly. Take that

yea but our leaks are mostly on the valve cover gasgets, very easy to fix.... RMS not so easy, but it does make the technitians here very happy! BTW its not because the seal is bad, its because the case warps to the point that the integrity of the seal is stretched! thats why they used the 993 3.6L case on the 996 GT3!

Keep drinking the cool aid my friend . . . keep drinking the cool aid. Also, your statement about the cause of the RMS is just, well, wrong. RMS leaks can be caused by a wide variety of factors, including bad seals, misinstalled seals, lack of use such that the seal shrinks and oil starts weeping past the seal, at which time it is hard to stop, hard short trips that make it difficult for the seal to expand and contract properly and, yes, bad cases. Also, my post was meant to be funny. I bet you are the life of the party, ********

Did they include the valve guide wear option on the GT3 as well?

Just kidding but you're a little off base. They put the earlier block (the 964 guys don't like the 993 guys claiming it) for the dry sump. Not because of the RMS issue. Porsche has proven they don't car much about that since they apparently didn't fix it on the 997. Go figure.

Pedro,
I know it's all in fun. I race against 993RSCSs, RSAs and 993TTs all the time and you can bet there is a fair amount of air vs water ribbing going on. Luckily we have a good way of settling our disputes.

okay well ill let the 964 guys have it. but the RMS issue is mainly due to warping of the hole in the cases, the technitians here are given a spec for the hole at the RMS with a telescoping guage. when the case is out of round, they replace the engine.

ROFLMAO,

I dont consider myself a ******** - I have been called many things - including a C..T! But the real issue is - Are YOU ok with it? I sure am!!!!!

You guys make me laugh.... Seriously... OK so I am a WET ******** with a leaky RMS and a 964 sump in the GT3..... so WOW!! I have a FULL house....!!!

Reminds me of the oldest joke in the book....

Q: What is the difference between a Porcupine and a Porsche?

A: A porcupine has the ****** on the outside......

Really - thanks from brigtening up an otherwise DREARY day!!

Simon.

The poll indicates that fully 60% of us are *********. I'm so proud to join the majority (for a change).

I find it interesting that on Pelican, they group the 996s in with the Boxsters on the opening page where you choose a vehicle. I bet that makes the owners of them feel special.

Why would that be anything to be ashamed about? I am not certain, but I bet that on the track, with the same driver -- let's say Hurley Haywood -- on the same day at the same track under the same conditions, a bone stock Boxster S would clean the clock of a bone stock normally aspirated 993. Hell, a stock normal Boxster might even take it. That is, of course, because a mid-engined car arguably has a closer tie to Porsche's racing heritage than the vaunted 911. I bet you look down on the Cayman as well, don't you?

This is funny, I don't get it. I love all Porsches (exept 996's j/k) Some people really take this air vs water thing really serious.
